MCBG AND THE CITY OF MINBURN HAVE BEEN WORKING TO PRESERVE, RESTORE, AND RENOVATE A 100 PLUS YEAR OLD BRICK TRAIN DEPOT. THIS DEPOT IS NOW A TRAIL HEAD FOR THE RACCOON RIVER VALLEY BIKE TRIAL AND A CAFE. MCBG RECEIVED A GRANT IN THE FORM OF A HISTORIC PRESERVATION TAX CREDIT FROM THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS. THE ENTIRE GRANT WAS THEN USED TO PAY DOWN THE LOAN ON THE RENOVATIONS OF THE DEPOT. THE RENOVATED DEPOT BENEFITS ALL CITIZENS OF MINBURN BY PRESERVING THIS IMPORTANT HISTORICAL BUILDING, AS WELL AS THE THOUSANDS OF USERS OF THE RACCOON RIVER VALLEY BIKE TRIAL BY PROVIDING A SAFE AND WELCOMING STOP ALONG THE TRAIL.
