ESTE PODER IS BUILDING POWER IN RURAL EAST TEXAS COMMUNITIES OF COLOR THROUGH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, ORGANIZING, AND LEADERSHIP CULTIVATION. WE ARE COLLECTIVELY WORKING TOWARDS A FUTURE WHERE OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE.

YOUNG TEXANS CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: ESTE PODER FOCUSES ON INDIVIDUALS AGED 17-35 BY PARTNERING WITH EAST TEXAS HIGH SCHOOLS TO EQUIP YOUNG PEOPLE, INCLUDING COLLEGE STUDENTS, WITH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT TOOLS TO INSTILL LIFELONG ACTIVE PARTICIPATION. ADDITIONALLY, ESTE PODER STUDENT FELLOWS CONTINUOUSLY ORGANIZE IN THE REGION'S LARGEST COLLEGES TO PROMOTE THIS ENGAGEMENT.


ENGAGING EAST TEXAS: WE ARE COMMITTED TO IDENTIFYING AND ADDRESSING CHALLENGES FACED BY OUR COMMUNITY, WHICH IS WHY WE STRIVE TO MEET OUR COMMUNITIES WHERE THEY ARE.


ADVOCACY: WE FOCUS ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT THROUGH LEGISLATIVE INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS. WE WANT TO ENCOURAGE OUR COMMUNITY'S PRESENCE IN CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS AND SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS.
