THE PURPOSE OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF HOUSTON IS TO PROMOTE POLITICAL RESPONSIBILITY THROUGH INFORMED ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF INDIVIDUALS IN GOVERNMENT AND TO ACT ON SELECTED GOVERNMENTAL ISSUES. THE LEAGUE SHALL NOT SUPPORT OR OPPOSE ANY POLITICAL PARTY OR ANY CANDIDATE.

VOTER INFORMATION - THE EDUCATION FUND PRODUCES A VOTERS GUIDE FOR PRIMARY ELECTIONS AND REGULAR NOVEMBER ELECTIONS. THE VOTERS GUIDE CONTAINS QUALIFICATIONS OF CANDIDATES.


OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL FORUMS WITH CANDIDATES AND THE RISING STARS VOLUNTEER TRAINING.


VOTER REGISTRATION - MANY LEAGUE MEMBERS ARE DEPUTIZED TO REGISTER CITIZENS TO VOTE. TABLES ARE SET UP AT PUBLIC PLACES TO ENABLE CITIZENS TO REGISTER.


WITH THE PARTNERSHIP OF THE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES, VOLUNTEERS ARE A PRESENCE AT NATURALIZATION CEREMONIES TO REGISTER NEW VOTERS.
