THE PURPOSES OF THE FOUNDATION ARE TO CREATE AN ONLINE EDITION OF THE BRIGHAM YOUNG (THE SECOND PRESIDENT (1845-1877) OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS) PAPERS AND TO FACILITATE SCHOLARLY WORK EXPLORING HIS LIFE AND HIS WORLD. THE FOUNDATION BOTH ENGAGES IN AND SEEKS TO PROMOTE SCHOLARSHIP THAT ADVANCES THESE TWO GOALS. THE ETHOS OF THE FOUNDATION IS ONE OF COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK. WHILE AUTHORS WILL OFTEN HAVE THEIR INDIVIDUAL WORK PRODUCTS, MANY PUBLICATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FOUNDATION WILL BE COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS. MOREOVER, IT IS EXPECTED THAT THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FOUNDATION SHARE A COMMITMENT TO THE BROAD GOALS OF THE FOUNDATION, INCLUDING GATHERING THE FINANCIAL, INTELLECTUAL AND HISTORICAL RESOURCES NECESSARY TO SUPPORT THIS WORK.
