SEE SCHEDULE OASPEN JOURNALISM IS A LOCAL, NONPROFIT, AND INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM ORGANIZATION FOUNDED IN ASPEN, COLORADO ON JANUARY 17, 2011. OUR MISSION IS TO PRODUCE INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM TO THE BENEFIT OF ALL THOSE WITH A STAKE IN ASPEN AND THE ROARING FORK RIVER VALLEY. OUR AREA OF GEOGRAPHIC INTEREST RADIATES OUTWARD FROM ASPEN TO INCLUDE PITKIN, EAGLE AND GARFIELD COUNTIES, THE ROARING FORK VALLEY, THE ROARING FORK RIVER WATERSHED, THE WESTERN SLOPE, THE STATE OF COLORADO, AND THE UPPER COLORADO RIVER BASIN. ASPEN JOURNALISM TAKES A "SHOELEATHER" APPROACH TO BEAT REPORTING, AND WE USUALLY WORK IN COLLABORATION WITH OTHER LOCAL AND REGIONAL NEWS ORGANIZATIONS. AFTER WE PUBLISH OUR STORIES ON THE ASPEN JOURNALISM WEBSITE, OTHER NEWS ORGANIZATIONS ARE INVITED TO PUBLISH THEM, WITHOUT CHARGE, UNDER OUR CREATIVE COMMONS GUIDELINES. ASPEN JOURNALISM IS A MEMBER THE COLORADO PRESS ASSOCIATION, THE INSTITUTE FOR NONPROFIT NEWS, LION (LOCAL INDEPENDENT ONLINE NEWS PUBLISHERS), AND THE ASPEN CHAMBER RESORT ASSOCIATION. OUR JOURNALISM HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED WITH AWARDS FROM THE COLORADO PRESS ASSOCIATION AND THE SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS. OUR NEWSROOM IS IN THE BENEDICT BUILDING IN ASPEN AT 1280 UTE AVENUE, SUITE 9. (THE OFFICE DOOR HAS A MAIL SLOT THAT MAKES IT EASY TO DROP OFF DOCUMENTS). WE HAVE EARNED THE PLATINUM SEAL OF TRANSPARENCY FROM GUIDESTAR.
