CALICO OPERATES A CHILDREN ADVOCACY CENTER SERVING ALAMEDA COUNTY IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. THE CENTER PROVIDES A SUPPORTIVE AND NEUTRAL ENVIRONMENT TO INTERVIEW CHILDREN AND FACILITATE A COLLABORATIVE RESPONSE TO CHILD ABUSE ALLEGATIONS WHERE THE NEEDS OF THE CHILD TAKE PRECEDENCE. CALICO BRINGS TOGETHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, CHILD WELFARE WORKERS, PROSECUTORS, AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS TO INVESTIGATE CHILD ABUSE ALLEGATIONS AND ILLICIT TESTIMONY FROM CHILDREN. CALICO USES NATIONALLY PROVEN METHODS DESIGNED TO ATTAIN THOROUGHT AND ACCURATE INFORMATION WHILE PROTECTING THE EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF THE VICTIM. CALICO HELPS VICTIMS HEAL BY COORDINATING THE STAGES OF RECOVERY THROUGH GUIDANCE BY CLINICIANS AND BY SUPPORTING THE ENTIRE FAMILY ALONG THE PATH TO PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING.
CALICO THROUGH ITS PROGRAM CHILDREN ADVOCACY CENTERS OF CALIFORNIA (CACC)IS COMITTED TO EXPANDING THE COORDINATION OF SERVICES IN CALIFORNIA SO THAT EVERY CHILD VICTIM OF ABUSE, NEGLECT, AND MOLESTATION HAS ACCESS TO A PROFESSIONAL CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER AND MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAM. CACC ALSO SERVES AS A STATEWIDE RESOURCE FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, BEST PRACTICES, TRAINING, AND CHILDREN ADVOCACY.
