PROVIDES VOTER AND CIVIC EDUCATION ACTIVITIES. WE ARE A NONPARTISAN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION WHICH BUILDS PARTICIPATION IN THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS, STUDIES KEY COMMUNITY ISSUES AT ALL GOVERNMENT LEVELS.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION - COMMUNITY EDUCATION IS AN AGGREGATE PROGRAM AREA FOCUSED ON PROVIDING NON-PARTISAN, IN-LANGUAGE, COMMUNITY REVIEWED, PLAIN LANGUAGE VOTING INFORMATION TO CALIFORNIANS, AND INCREASING VOTER TURNOUT IN HISTORICALLY LOW PROPENSITY VOTING GROUPS. THE LWVC EF PRODUCED EASY VOTER GUIDE, A NON-PARTISAN PLAIN LANGUAGE, GUIDE TO STATE-LEVEL BALLOT MEASURES THAT IS TRANSLATED INTO 5 LANGUAGES. WE ALSO RAN A VOTER HELP HOTLINE, CREATED VOTER EDUCATION TOOLKITS FOR LOCAL LEAGUES AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.


RECALL ELECTION GET OUT THE VOTE - THE GUBERNATORIAL RECALL ELECTION WAS HELD IN SEPTEMBER 2021. IN THE LEAD UP TO THE ELECTION THE LWVC EF DEVELOPED ELECTION FAQS AND A GOTV CAMPAIGN DESIGNED TO INCREASE VOTER TURNOUT IN BLACK, AAPI, AND LATINO COMMUNITIES. THE CAMPAIGN PLACED NON-PARTISAN, IN-LANGUAGE ELECTION INFORMATION IN OVER 20 AAPI PUBLICATIONS ACROSS THE STATE, PRODUCED AND MAILED 60,000 MAILERS IN SPANISH TO VOTERS, AND RAN SEVERAL TEXT BANKS ENGAGING OVER 30,000 BLACK VOTERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RECALL ELECTION. ADDITIONALLY THE LWVC EF CREATED A NON-PARTISAN MULTI-LINGUAL TURNKEY SOCIAL MEDIA RECALL ELECTION TOOLKIT FOR USE BY LOCAL LEAGUES, COMMUNITY PARTNERS, AND OTHERS SEEKING TO PROVIDE FACTUAL, NON-PSRTISAN ELECTION INFORMATION TO THEIR COMMUNITIES.


VOTER'S EDGE - VOTER'S EDGE PROVIDES CALIFORNIANS WITH THE ONLY UNBIASED, NON-PARTISAN ONLINE BALLOT GUIDE TO HELP THEM LEARN ABOUT THE CANDIDATES ON THEIR BALLOT, WHICH INCLUDES CAMPAIGN FINANCE DATA AND THE CANDIDATES' POSITIONS ON THEIR OWN, UNEDITED WORDS. VOTER'S EDGE IS PROVIDED IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH AND WAS USED BY APPROXIMATELY 500,000 VOTERS IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION.
