MISSION: HELP COMMUNITIES BUILD BRIDGES TO MENTAL HEALTH(1) PREVENTION: THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES A REGISTERED PROPRIETARY PROGRAM, MENTORSUCCESS, USING TRAINED MENTORS TO HELP ELEMENTARY STUDENTS SUCCEED IN THEIR LIFE AS THEY GROW UP. THESE K-5TH GRADE STUDENTS MAY BE IDENTIFIED BY TEACHERS, COUNSELORS, PRINCIPALS OR PARENTS AS CANDIDATES THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM A CONSISTENT, CARING CONNECTION WITH A MENTOR. OUR RESEARCH-BASED MENTORING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR EACH CHILD'S NEEDS. IT IS CUSTOMIZED. IT FOCUSES ON BUILDING VITAL SKILLS FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE, LEADERSHIP AND RELATIONSHIPS. MENTORS ARE VETTED, TRAINED AND UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION OF OUR STAFF OR DESIGNATED SUPERVISORS. MENTORING TAKES PLACE ON-SITE AT THE SCHOOL. TO HELP OUR CONTINUED EFFORTS ON MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION AND PREVENTION, WE HAVE ON STAFF AN EXPERIENCED SCHOOL COUNSELOR TO DEVELOP EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AROUND HUMAN BEHAVIOR TO BE UTILIZED IN CLASSROOMS AND COMMUNITIES. FOR STUDENTS THAT HAVE CONTINUED ON OUR PROGRAMS CONSISTENTLY WE WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE OUTCOMES CONSISTENT WITH OUR STATED GOALS.(2) CONNECTION: RESEARCH HAS DEMONSTRATED THAT MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING HAS BETTER OUTCOMES WHEN IT IS DONE WITH A SPIRITUAL COMPONENT. MANY PEOPLE DON'T FIND THE APPROPRIATE COUNSELOR FOR THEIR CARE. THE DIAGNOSTIC AND STATISTICAL MANUAL OF MENTAL DISORDERS LISTS OVER 200 CLASSIFIED FORMS OF MENTAL ILLNESS. WE PROVIDE MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION ALONG WITH COUNSELING REFERRALS THAT PAIR THE CLIENT'S NEED TO THE COUNSELOR WITH THE SPECIFIC SKILL SET. WE RESEARCHED FINANCIAL OPTIONS INCLUDING INSURANCE, AND WE MATCHED CLIENTS WITH A COUNSELOR WHO SPECIALIZES IN THE AREA OF THEIR NEED. OUR MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION IS FOCUSED ON BREAKING THE STIGMA OF MENTAL ILLNESS THROUGH ONLINE EDUCATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT. DURING 2023 WE SERVED APPROXIMATELY 637 CLIENTS THROUGH REFERRALS. MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION WAS OFFERED ONLINE AND IN PERSON SEMINARS. ALL SERVICES WERE OFFERED WITHOUT COSTS. WE HAVE WONDERFUL FEEDBACK FROM CLIENTS WHO WERE SO THANKFUL THAT WE CONNECT THEM WITH SOMEONE THAT TRULY HAS THE SKILLS TO HELP THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS. (3) RESTORATION: THE FOUNDATION OPERATES A CHRISTIAN RETREAT AND RESTORE CENTER NAMED OASIS. IT IS EASILY ACCESSED BECAUSE IT IS IN THE CITY OF VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON. IT IS DEDICATED TO CREATING A PLACE OF PEACE AND RESTORATION IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR HECTIC WORLD. WE ALSO PROVIDE GROUP COUNSELING AND MENTAL HEALTH SEMINARS. WE SERVED 875 PERSONS DURING 2023. OUR CLIENTS WERE THANKFUL THAT WE ARE ABLE TO OFFER SUCH SERVICES AT SUCH A LOW COST AND GIVE THEM THE RESTORATION THEY NEEDED.
