SHARK ALLIES SPECIALIZES IN ISSUES THAT IMPACT SHARK POPULATIONS AND SOLUTIONS THAT WILL BRING ABOUT RECOVERY AND PROTECTION OF SHARKS AND THE HABITATS THEY LIVE IN. THIS IS ACHIEVED VIA COLLABORATION WITH MANY NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONSERVATION ORGANIZATIONS AND BY FOSTERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF MANY ADVOCATES AND VOLUNTEERS. MORE THAN 20,000 INDIVIDUALSARE MEMBERS AND FOLLOWERS OF OUR CAUSE. OUR AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS AIM TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE ROLE OF SHARKS IN THE HEALTH OF THE OCEAN AND ENCOURAGE CONSUMERS TO REDUCE THEIR PURCHASE OF SHARK PRODUCTS. A BIG PART OF THE AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS IS THE CREATION OF VISUAL MEDIA, SUCH AS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND SHORT DOCUMENTARIES THAT PROMOTE A POSITIVE IMAGE OF SHARKS, TV INTERVIEWS, AND MAGAZINE ARTICLES. SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR WE CONDUCT FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCES, WHERE WE BRING DIVERS TOGETHER WITH SHARK EXPERTS AND SCIENTISTS IN SHARK DIVING LOCATIONS. THE LONG-TERM GOAL IS TO RAISE THE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF SHARK CONSERVATION ISSUES AND TO RAISE SUPPORT FOR PROPOSED SOLUTIONS THAT WILL END HARMFUL PRACTICES AND INCREASE THE RECOVERY OF ENDANGERED SPECIES.USE OF FUNDING:- CONDUCT RESEARCH AND DATA MINING TO BUILD AN ACCURATE ASSESSMENT OF THE MAJOR ISSUES THAT ENDANGER SHARK POPULATIONS, INCLUDING THE FIN TRADE, OVERFISHING, SHARK PRODUCTS SUCH AS COSMETICS AND VACCINES, AND HABITAT DESTRUCTION.- TO SUPPORT A GROWING TEAM OF ADVOCATES AND VOLUNTEERS- ADVOCATE FOR FISHERIES AND CONSERVATION REGULATIONS- COLLABORATE WITH CONSERVATIONS GROUPS IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SHARK CONSERVATION CAMPAIGNS- ORGANIZE AND HOST AWARENESS EVENTS- TO CREATE OUTREACH AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS THAT INFORM THE PUBLIC- TO GENERATE A CONSISTENT FLOW OF EDUCATION VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND INTERNET SITES- TO PARTICIPATE IN CONVENTIONS AND PRESENT OUR PROGRAM AT TRADE SHOWS MOST PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO US BY VOLUNTEERS OR ON A PRO-BONO LEVEL.
