WE ARE A GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION WORKING TO PROTECT IDAHO'S UNIQUE WAY OF LIFE BY EMPOWERING CITIZENS TO IMPROVE THE ECONOMIC WELL-BEING OF THEIR COMMUNITIES, PRESERVING FAMILY FARMS AND RANCHES, SUPPORTING LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE, DEVELOPING SMALL BUSINESSES AND CLEAN ENERGY, AND BEING RESPONSIBLE STEWARDS OF IDAHO'S WATER, LAND, AIR, AND NATURAL RESOURCES.

AG & FOOD - IORC IS DEDICATED TO GROWING COMMUNITY POWER AMONGST LATINX FARMWORKERS IN THE STATE. THIS INCLUDES PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND DEVELOPING STRATEGIC CAMPAIGNS TO PUSH FOR POLICIES THAT BENEFIT THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY. GOAL 1: PROTECT FARMWORKER HEALTH. MONITOR AND STRENGTHEN AERIAL PESTICIDE APPLICATION RULES IN IDAHO. IN 2020, TWO DOZEN FARMWORKERS WERE POISONED FROM ONE INCORRECT PESTICIDE APPLICATION BY AN AIRPLANE APPLICATOR. SINCE THEN, IORC HAS WORKED WITH THOSE INJURED AND THE LARGER LATINX FARMWORKER COMMUNITY TO PROTECT AND EXPAND ON EXISTING REGULATIONS IN THE STATE PERTAINING TO AERIAL APPLICATIONS OF PESTICIDES. IORC WILL CONTINUE OVER THE TWO YEARS TO PUSH FOR STRONGER REGULATIONS. GOAL 2: BUILD STRONG FARMWORKER-LED ORGANIZING. IORC WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD OUT ITS ORGANIZING WORK WITH LATINX FARMWORKERS BY RECRUITING, TRAINING, AND ENGAGING COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON ISSUES THAT IMPACT THEM THE MOST. IORC IS ALSO PERFORMING AN ORGANIZING ASSESSMENT WITH LATINX DAIRY WORKERS IN THE STATE TO BUILD A LOCAL CHAPTER THAT WILL CONCENTRATE ON STRENGTHENING IMMIGRATION AND WORKER RIGHTS ISSUES CONNECTED TO DAIRY WORKERS.
THE CLIMATE AND ENERGY TASK FORCE ORGANIZES IORC MEMBERS TO ENGAGE IN CLEAN ENERGY OUTREACH TO DECISION MAKERS AND COLLABORATES WITH NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN THE STATE. THE GOAL IS TO SECURE A CLEAN ENERGY FUTURE FOR IDAHO. SPECIFICALLY, WE SEEK TO IMPLEMENT POLICIES THAT ENCOURAGE THE GROWTH AND ADOPTION OF CLEAN & RENEWABLE ENERGY IN IDAHO. CURRENTLY, IORC'S MAJOR CAMPAIGN IS TO SECURE FAIR NET METERING RATES FOR SOLAR CUSTOMERS.
