Part 3
SEDONA CHAMBER BALLET PROVIDES PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES TO INSPIRE PROFESSIONAL DANCERS AND STUDENTS TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF ARTISTRY. WE SPEND 2019 PREPARING FOR A CONCERT THAT WAS TO TAKE PLACE APRIL 4, 2020. IT WAS THE PLAN TO HAVE 28 DANCERS FROM BALLET ARIZONA PERFORM LIVE IN SEDONA ALONGSIDE 45 YOUNG DANCE STUDENTS. THE CONCERT WAS CALLED ELEVE AND WAS TO SHOWCASE ARIZONA AND LOCAL SEDONA DANCERS IN NEWLY CHOREOGRAPHED WORKS BY MASTER CHOREOGRAPHERS IN BOTH BALLET AND CONTEMPORARY WORKS. BALLET ARIZONA DANCERS , THROUGH THE ARTIST RELIEF FUND, WAS TO PERFORM THE DANCER'S CHOICE CONCERT AS THE SECOND ACT. 2019 WAS SPENT IN REHEARSALS, CREATION AND PLANNING FOR THIS EXTRAORDINARY EVENT. UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO THE IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS THE EVENT WAS CANCELLED. IT IS HOPED THAT WE CAN BRING THIS TO STAGE IN 2021. IN THE 2018 PRODUCTION 28 OF THE LOCAL CHILDREN WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO DANCE IN A PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION WITH THE PHOENIX BALLET IN SEDONA. THEY LEARNED COMPLEX CHOREOGRAPHY AND DANCED ALONG SIDE SOME OF THE BEST DANCERS IN THE WORLD. IN ADDITION THE SEDONA COMMUNITY AND TOURISTS WERE ABLE TO WATCH A WORLD- CLASS PRODUCTION. THIS EVENT IS IN LINE WITH THE SEDONA COMMUNITY PLAN RATIFIED IN MARCH 2014. THIS PLAN CALLS FOR INCREASED OPPORTUNITIES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS AND ENRICHED VISITOR EXPERIENCES. IN ADDITION, THE PLAN IDENTIFIES THE NEED TO ELEVATE SEDONA TO AN INTERNATIONAL DESTINATION FOR ARTS EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT. THIS EVENT IS ON TARGET WITH THE COMMUNITY PLAN. SEDONA CHAMBER BALLET CONTINUES TO PROVIDE THE VERY BEST OF THE BEST IN DANCE, COSTUMES, CHOREOGRAPHY, TRAINING AND PRODUCTION VALUE. THE CHILDREN AND THE AUDIENCE WAS EXPOSED TO BALLET AT ITS FINEST AND SEDONA'S YOUNG DANCERS NOW SEE THE ART OF THE POSSIBLE IN DANCE. THIS PRODUCTION RECRUITED 6 MORE CHILDREN IN ADDITION TO THE FIFTEEN IN PAST YEARS TO THE PRE-PROFESSIONAL STUDY OF DANCE HERE IN SEDONA AND IN PHOENIX. EACH YEAR YOUNG CHILDREN ARE INTRODUCED TO THE VERY BEST OF BALLET AND LEARN TO UNDERSTAND THE DISCIPLINE AND COMMITMENT IT TAKES TO BECOME A DANCER. THE CHILDREN WHO DECIDE TO PURSUE MORE TRAINING ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY WITH SOME OF THE BEST TEACHERS IN AMERICA THROUGH THE PHOENIX BALLET COLLABORATION. TEN LOCAL DANCE STUDENTS HAVE MADE THE COMMITMENT TO STUDY BALLET AT A PREPROFESSIONAL LEVEL AND THAT IS QUITE SOMETHING GIVEN WE ARE A RURAL COMMUNITY WITH LESS THAN 1000 CHILDREN.
