TO PROVIDE THE YOUTH OF SAN DIEGO WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY, UNDERSTAND AND APPRECIATE, THROUGH EDUCATION AND PARTICIPATION, THE ART OF BALLET, AND TO ENRICH THE CULTURAL LIFE OF THE COMMUNITY.

SDCYB HAS BEEN TRAINING GENERATIONS OF DANCERS SINCE 1945 PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY, AFFORDABLE YEAR-ROUND DANCE TRAINING FOR OVER 400 STUDENTS EACH SEMESTER. OVER 60 CLASSES ARE OFFERED EACH WEEK IN CLASSICAL BALLET, POINTE, MODERN, PROGRESSING BALLET TECHNIQUE, STRETCH & STRENGTH, PARTNERING, AND BOY'S CLASSES. SUMMER PROGRAMMING INCLUDES AFFORDABLE CAMPS FOR YOUNG DANCERS AND SUMMER INTENSIVES FOR ADVANCED DANCERS, TAUGHT BY NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED INSTRUCTORS. SDCYB'S EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAMS BRING DANCE EDUCATION TO SAN DIEGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES, REACHING OVER 450 STUDENTS ANNUALLY. PROGRAMS PRIMARILY SERVE LOW-INCOME AND UNDER-RESOURCED COMMUNITIES AND YOUTH, MAKING BALLET ACCESSIBLE TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WHO MAY NOT OTHERWISE BE EXPOSED TO THE PERFORMING ARTS.


PRODUCE FOUR PROFESSIONAL MAIN STAGE PRODUCTIONS ANNUALLY, INCLUDING A FULL LENGTH SPRING BALLET, SPRING SHOWCASE, FAIRYTALES IN THE PARK AND THE NUTCRACKER REACHING OVER 15,000 PATRONS PER YEAR. SDCYB PARTNERS WITH PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THE SCOUTS FOR SPECIAL PERFORMANCES FOR 1,200 YOUTH PER YEAR, INCLUDING Q&A WITH THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND MEET AND GREETS WITH THE DANCERS.
