COMMUNITY EDUCATION - THE MINNESOTA COMMUNITY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION IS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP IN THE CREATION OF AN EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT AND LIFE-LONG LEARNING ARE ESSENTIAL.

THE ASSOCIATION HOSTS AN ANNUAL FALL CONFERENCE. THIS CONFERENCE PROVIDES MEMBERS WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE AND SHARE INFORMATION, DISCUSS, AND LEARN ABOUT EMERGING ISSUES CONCERNING COMMUNITY EDUCATION. THE CONFERENCE WAS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 425 MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION AND OTHER INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS.
EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES ARE NOT DIRECTLY ALLOCATED TO THE VARIOUS PROGRAMS SPONSORED BY THE ASSOCIATION. THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A DIRECTORY OF ITS MEMBERSHIP, PUBLICATIONS AND OTHER INFORMATION TO ITS MEMBERSHIP. THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A LEGISLATIVE UPDATE ON ISSUES RELATED TO COMMUNITY EDUCATION. IN ADDITION, THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTES AND SPONSORS OTHER MEMBERSHIP RELATED ACTIVITIES.
THE ASSOCIATION OFFERS A TWO DAY CONFERENCE ENCOURAGING MEMBERS TO BECOME BETTER LEADERS IN DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITIES. APPROXIMATELY 200 MEMBERS ATTENDED THIS CONFERENCE. IN ADDITION, THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A VARIETY OF REGIONAL INSERVICE AND WORKSHOPS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF MINNESOTA. ATTENDEES DISCUSS AND RECEIVE UPDATED INFORMATION ON COMMUNITY EDUCATION ISSUES. ATTENDANCE VARIES DUE TO LOCATION OF SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS.
