TENANT BASED RENTAL ASSISTANCE (TBRA) AND HOUSING PROGRAMS - THE TBRA PROGRAM IS ADMINISTERED BY THE IOWA FINANCE AUTHORITY. PROGRAM PROVIDES RENTAL AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS WHO MEET THE LOW-INCOME AND HUD GUIDELINES. THIS PROGRAM IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE OF THE EXTENDED WAITING LIST FOR HUD VOUCHERS. 56 LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS IN 16 HOUSEHOLDS BENEFITED.HOUSING PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED VIA THE DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY (PASSED THROUGH IFA, POLK COUNTY, AND CITY OF DES MOINES) AND THROUGH HUD VIA IFA. 8,927 HOUSEHOLDS AND 26,767 INDIVIDUALS BENEFITED.
LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP) - FUNDED BY THE US DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES THROUGH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS. THE PROGRAM IS ESTABLISHED TO AID LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN PAYING THEIR HOUSEHOLD HEATING COSTS. APPROXIMATELY 16,192 LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS BENEFITED.
COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT (CSBG) -FUNDED THROUGH GRANTS FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES THROUGH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RIGHTS. THE PROGRAM IS USED TO HELP FUND PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES THAT ASSIST LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES TO ATTAIN SELF-SUFFICIENCY.
