OUR ORGANIZATION HAS CREATED COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS TO PROMOTE AND PROVIDE A SAFE, HEALTHY, AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR THOSE IN NEED IN JOHNSTON AND OUR LARGER COMMUNITY. WE MOBILIZE COMMUNITY HEALTH RESOURCES, AND PROVIDE BASIC NEEDS AND HUMAN SERVICES. PARTNERSHIP PLACE, OUR HUMAN SERVICES CENTER, PROVIDES FOOD, CLOTHING AND OTHER BASIC NEEDS TO MORE THAN 2,475 INDIVIDUALS THIS YEAR. OUR BACK TO SCHOOL CLINIC PROVIDED SUPPLIES FOR MORE THAN 289 STUDENTS. OUR WEEKEND BACKPACK PROGRAMS FED OVER 227 STUDENTS EACH WEEKEND DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.
WE PROMOTE OPPORTUNITIES FOR POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT VIA OUR PROGRAM JUMP, A SCHOOL BASED MENTORING PROGRAM. IN 2021-22, OUR SCHOOL-BASED COMMUNITY MENTORING PROGRAM MATCHED 117 STUDENTS WITH AN ADULT MENTOR, ENSURING A POSITIVE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE. THESE MATCHES CONTINUED DESPITE THE PANDEMIC AND MANY DAYS OUT OF SCHOOL.
THE BENEVOLENCE FUND IS OPEN TO THOSE WHO LIVE WITHIN THE JOHNSTON SCHOOL DISTRICT BOUNDARIES, AND IT DOES REQUIRE A SHORT APPLICATION/INTERVIEW PROCESS. WE ARE ABLE TO ASSIST WITH FINANCIAL NEEDS SUCH AS RENTAL ASSISTANCE, UTILITY ASSISTANCE OR OTHER EMERGENCY FINANCIAL NEEDS. WE PROVIDED 30,561 OF ASSISTANCE IN THE 2021-2022 FISCAL YEAR.
WE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO NEEDY FAMILIES IN THE JOHNSTON/URBANDALE, IA AREA. THERE IS AN APPLICATION/INTERVIEW PROCESS TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY. WE PROVIDED 19,677 OF ASSISTANCE DOLLARS IN THE 2021-2022 FISCAL YEAR.
