THE MISSION OF THE TITUSVILLE AREA SENIOR CITIZENS CORPORATION IS TO ASSURE THAT OLDER ADULTS REMAIN ACTIVE, INDEPENDENT, HEALTHY, AND INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY.

SOCIAL CONNECTION - THE MISSION OF THE SOCIAL CONNECTION IS TO PROVIDE THE ADULT MENTAL HEALTH POPULATION WITH A SAFE, COMFORTABLE, AND INVITING ENVIRONMENT TO INTERACT WITH PEERS. THE MAIN PURPOSE IS FOR ATTENDING CONSUMERS TO LEARN SOCIALIZATION SKILLS AND TO AID IN THEIR RECOVERY PROCESS. SOCIAL CONNECTION IS A MENTAL HEALTH DROP-IN CENTER WHICH SERVES CONSUMERS IN TITUSVILLE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. THE SOCIAL CONNECTION PROVIDES A SAFE, COMFORTABLE, AND INVITING ENVIRONMENT FOR THE CONSUMERS TO SOCIALIZE, LEARN, AND GROW.
CENTER SERVICES - ORGANIZED IN 1968 AND INCORPORATED IN 1977, THE TITUSVILLE AREA SENIOR CITIZENS CORPORATION PROVIDES SERVICES TO PERSONS AGE 60 AND OLDER IN TITUSVILLE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. REGULAR HOURS AT THE CENTER ARE WEEKDAYS FROM 8AM UNTIL 4PM. INHOUSE SERVICES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO; COMPUTER TRAINING, FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES, FITNESS PROGRAMS, ARTS AND CRAFTS, GUEST SPEAKERS, BUS TRIPS, AND SPECIAL EVENTS. IN ADDITION TO THOSE PROGRAMS, THE STAFF PROVIDES ASSISTANCE WITH MEDICARE, INCOME TAXES, AND HELPING SENIOR CITIZENS FILL OUT MANY OTHER TYPES OF PAPER WORK. SENIOR CITIZENS MAY VOLUNTEER TO SERVE ON THE SENIOR COUNCIL WHICH IS AN ADVISORY BOARD. NUMEROUS FUNDRAISERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR PROVIDE A MULTITUDE OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL.
CONGREGATE MEALS - THE TITUSVILLE AREA SENIOR CITIZENS CORPORATION IS THE ONLY ENTITY IN OUR AREA THAT PROVIDES THE CONGREGATE MEAL PROGRAM TO SENIOR CITIZENS. THE CONGREGATE MEAL LUNCHES ARE SERVED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AT NOON BY THE CENTERS STAFF AND SENIOR VOLUNTEERS. LUNCHES ARE PREPARED BY A PART-TIME COOK IN THE CENTERS COMMERCIAL KITCHEN. DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE MEALS ARE PROVIDED BY A LICENSED DIETICIAN, IN ORDER TO SERVE A HOT NUTRITIOUS MEAL, CONSISTING OF 1100 CALORIES AS MANDATED BY FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT (SEC.331).
