CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL ARTS FOUNDATION CSSSAF RAISES FUNDS AND PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE CALIFORNIA STATE SUMMER SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS CSSSA. IN A REGULAR YEAR, APPROXIMATELY 500 STUDENTS ATTEND THE SUMMER SCHOOL. HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID-19, THE SUMMER SCHOOL WAS CANCELLED IN 2020. IN JULY 2021, CSSSA PROVIDED A VIRTUAL SUMMER SESSION. IN ADDITION, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED STUDENTS WITH EQUIPMENT RENTALS AND SUPPLIES THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE AVAILABLE ON CAMPUS AND COVERED BY TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS.
CSSSAF PROVIDES INDUSTRY EXPERTS, ACCOMPLISHED ARTISTS, AND HIGH-PROFILE GROUPS AS VISITING ARTISTS DURING THE CSSSA SUMMER SESSION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, CSSSAF CONTRACTED WITH DOZENS OF ARTISTS TO SUPPORT THE JULY 2021 VIRTUAL SUMMER SESSION. FOR ALL SEVEN DISCIPLINES-DANCE, MUSIC, THEATER, WRITING, FILM, ANIMATION, AND VISUAL ARTS-THE FOUNDATION BROUGHT IN INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKERS, PERFORMERS, AND TEACHERS SUCH AS FAMED BALLET DANCER, HARPER WATTERS- TRADITIONAL MEXICAN MASK MAKER, DANIEL LOYOLA AND CSSSA ALUM AND ACTOR, TISHA CUSTODIO. THESE ARTISTS PROVIDED INDUSTRY EXPOSURE, REAL-WORLD ADVICE, AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING FEEDBACK TO ALL CSSSA STUDENTS.
