THE ARC OF THE EAST BAY'S ALTERNATIVE VENTURES PROGRAM IS FOR INDIVIDUALS OVER THE AGE OF 18, WHO WISH TO PARTAKE IN PROGRAMMING THAT ARE BOTH ON SITE AND IN THE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE MOTIVATED FOR VOLUNTEER, SOCIAL, RECREATIONAL, LIFE SKILLS, AND COMMUNITY BUILDING SKILLS SETS. DAILY EXERCISE, STAMINA/MOVEMENT DEVELOPMENT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. OCCATIONAL PAID WORK MAY BE PROVIDED.
THE ARC OF THE EAST BAY'S LEAP IS DESIGNED TO ASSIST PEOPLE IN EXPLORING THEIR INTEREST AND NEEDS WHILE FULFILLING THEIR CAREET GOALS AND PERSONAL ASPIRATIONS. THE PROGRAM IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING SERVICES, SUPPORTS, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY FOR ADULTS WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. LEAP STAFF TO CLIENT RATIO IS 1:3. INDIVIDUALS MUST BE FULLY AMBULATORY AND HIGHLY MOTIVATED TO BE IN THE COMMUNITY FULL TIME.
THE ARC OF THE EAST BAY'S ADULT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, CALLED SCOPE, TEACHES PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEVERE TO PROFOUND DISABILITIES BASIC LEARNING SKILLS SUCH AS PERSONAL SAFETY, COMMUNITY ACCESS, GROOMING AND HYGIENE. THE GOAL IS TO ENSURE THAT ALL INDIVIDUAL REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL IN NATURAL SOCIAL ENVIRONMENTS AND GAIN THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING A VALUED MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH THEY LIVE.
