WHITE BIRD IS COMMITTED TO BRINGING THE BEST PORTLAND-BASED, REGIONAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL DANCE COMPANIES TO PORTLAND, OREGON AND TO FOSTERING THE GROWTH OF DANCE IN THE REGION.

FISCAL YEAR 2022-23 SAW WHITE BIRD'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON RETURN TO A FULL ROSTER OF 11 DANCE COMPANIES PRESENTED OVER A 9-MONTH PERIOD. OUR SEASON-OPENING SPECIAL EVENT FEATURED A LIVE BIG BAND PERFORMING WITH THE HIGH-ENERGY SWING DANCERS OF SW!NG OUT, WITH AN INVITATION AFTER INTERMISSION FOR AUDIENCE MEMBERS TO DANCE ON STAGE WHILE THE BAND PLAYED. OUR ESTABLISHED DANCE SERIES AND "WE ARE ONE" FESTIVAL FEATURED 6 RETURNING COMPANIES, HALF OF THEM LED BY WELL ESTABLISHED CHOREOGRAPHERS OF COLOR: RONALD K. BROWN/EVIDENCE, A.I.M BY KYLE ABRAHAM, AND BALLET HISPNICO. ROUNDING OUT THIS SERIES WERE PARSONS DANCE, PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY, AND MOMIX.WE REINSTATED OUR UNCAGED SERIES WITH 3 EMERGING COMPANIES, TWO OF WHICH MADE PORTLAND PREMIERES: DALLAS BLACK DANCE THEATRE AND THE TL COLLECTIVE. WE RETURNED TO BEAVERTON'S RESER CENTER FOR THE ARTS FOR THE SECOND OF OUR SPECIAL EVENTS: THE RETURN OF TRINITY IRISH DANCE COMPANY, A FAVORITE FROM THE EARLY YEARS OF WHITE BIRD.
