WHITE BIRD IS COMMITTED TO BRINGING THE BEST PORTLAND-BASED, REGIONAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL DANCE COMPANIES TO PORTLAND, OREGON AND TO FOSTERING THE GROWTH OF DANCE IN THE REGION.

FISCAL YEAR 2021-22 WAS A YEAR OF HISTORIC RESURGENCE. THANKS IN LARGE PART TO FEDERAL SVOG FUNDING, AS WELL AS THE GENEROSITY OF OUR DONORS, WHITE BIRD MOUNTED A TRUNCATED SEASON OF FOUR SHOWS BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND MAY 2022. THIS WINTER/SPRING 2022 SEASON WAS COMPRISED OF TWO NEW ENDEAVORS FOR WHITE BIRD. THE 1ST ANNUAL WE ARE ONE FESTIVAL, FEATURING PERFORMANCES BY ALONZO KING LINES BALLET, DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM, AND COMPLEXIONS CONTEMPORARY BALLET, CELEBRATED VENERABLE AMERICAN DANCE COMPANIES LED BY VISIONARY ARTISTS OF COLOR. WHITE BIRD ALSO PRESENTED VERSA-STYLE DANCE COMPANY IN THE BRAND-NEW RESER CENTER FOR THE ARTS, MARKING THE FIRST DANCE PERFORMANCE IN THAT VENUE AND THE FIRST SHOW WHITE BIRD HAS EVER PRESENTED OUTSIDE OF PORTLAND. CRUCIALLY, THE SHORT WINTER/SPRING 2022 HELPED WHITE BIRD TO TRANSITION FROM THE 2020-21 SEASON, DURING WHICH NO LIVE PROGRAMMING TOOK PLACE, TO OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY 2022-23 SEASON, WHICH CLOSELY MIRRORS OUR PRE-PANDEMIC PROGRAMMING.
