COMPANY - ALONZO KING LINES BALLET IS A SAN FRANCISCO BASED PERFORMING ARTS COMPANY CONSISTING OF 13 PROFESSIONAL DANCERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2023, LINES BALLET PERFORMED 45 TIMES IN 21 CITIES AND 3 COUNTRIES. WHILE ON TOUR, IN ADDITION TO PERFORMANCES, THE COMPANY ALSO PROVIDED WORKSHOPS, DEMONSTRATIONS, AND INTERVIEWS. IN APRIL 2023, LINES BALLET PREMIERED A NEW WORK, LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED, WHICH FEATURED VOCALS BY LISA FISCHER AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY RICHARD MISRACH.
EDUCATION -ALONZO KING LINES BALLET OFFERS TRAINING, PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES, AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ASPIRING AND PRE-PROFESSIONAL DANCERS. THIS INCLUDES THE LINES BFA PROGRAM; THE LINES SUMMER PROGRAM, THE LINES TRAINING PROGRAM, WITH ITS SUB-DIVISION LINES TRAINING GROUND, THAT HAS MORE FLEXIBILITY; AND LINES COMMUNITY PROGRAMS. THE LINES BFA PROGRAM IS A COLLABORATION WITH THE DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY OF CA AND HAS A FACULTY COMPOSED OF ALONZO KING LINES BALLET COMPANY ALUMNI AND RENOWNED GUEST ARTISTS. IN THE 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR, THE LINES BFA PROGRAM ENROLLED 33 UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS. IN SUMMER 2023, THE LINES SUMMER PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS AGES 11-25 ENROLLED 204 STUDENTS. THE LINES TRAINING PROGRAM, DESIGNED FOR PRE-PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS AGED 17-25 ON THE CUSP OF THEIR CAREERS, CURRENTLY (CONTINUED ON SCH. O) SERVES 32 STUDENTS. IN THE 22-23 ACADEMIC YEAR, LINES COMMUNITY PROGRAMS PROVIDES ARTS PROGRAMMING, IN COLLABORATION WITH SF UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT OR SF PARKS AND REC, SERVED OVER 1250 STUDENTS IN GRADES PK-HIGH SCHOOL IN OVER 18,000 CONTACT HOURS, THE MAJORITY IN SF PRIORITY - EQUITY NEIGHBORHOODS.
DANCE CENTER - FOR THE SF/BAY AREA, THE LINES DANCE CENTER, LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF 7TH AND MARKET STREET IN SAN FRANCISCO, EXISTS AS A POINT OF ENTRE TO EXPERIENCING THE ALONZO KING LINES BALLET COMMUNITY YEAR-ROUND. THE LINES DANCE CENTER PROVIDES SPACE AND IS HOME TO LOCAL CHOREOGRAPHERS, COMPANIES, AND ARTISTS. THE DANCE CENTER PROVIDES OVER 55 HIGH-CALIBER CLASSES PER WEEK TAUGHT BY THE SF/BAY AREA'S BEST FACULTY.
