Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
BANDALOOP CELEBRATES THE HUMAN SPIRIT, NATURE, AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH DANCE THAT USES CLIMBING TECHNOLOGY TO EXPAND AND CHALLENGE WHAT IS POSSIBLE. SINCE 1991 THE WORK HAS RE-IMAGINED DANCE AND ACTIVATED NATURAL AND PUBLIC SPACES TO EVOKE WONDER AND IMAGINATION IN AUDIENCES AND STUDENTS AROUND THE WORLD. AS AN INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED TOURING DANCE COMPANY WE HAVE PERFORMED IN OVER 300 LOCATIONS IN OVER 30 COUNTRIES AND CONTINUE TO BRING DANCE TO NEW AUDIENCES ON A GLOBAL SCALE. IN FY 2021, AFTER RESTARTYING LOCAL OAKLAND BASED REHEARSLAS, WE WERE ABLE TO LIFT UP SOME OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE TOURING WITH ARTS PRESENTERS WHO REQUIRED WORLD CLASS OUTDOOR PERFORMANCE WHILE VENUES REMAINED SHUTTERED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THIS CONTINUED TO TREND THROUGH THE 3RD QUARTER OF FY 2021 AND OVER ALL WE PERFORMED IN OVER 10 LOCATIONS, LARGELY OUTDOORS, RESTABILIZING OUR PERFORMANCE ART REVENUE. AT HOME WE CONTINUED OUR LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS WITH INSTITUTIONS AND SCHOOLD TO LIFT UP VERTICAL DANCE EDUCATION AND NOW MAINTAIN A THRIVING AND GROWING EDUCATION.WE ALSO CREATED A SERIES OF SHORT FILMS BASED ON NEW WORK DEVELOPMENT AND WE INCUBATED A NEW WORK, LOOM:FIELD FOR CONTINUED TOURING THROUGH FY 2022. WE GREW OUR CORE GROUP OF 120 STAFF, DANCERS AND TECHNICIANS FOR REHEARSALS, NEW WORK DEVELOPMENT, AND CONTINUED FOCUS ON ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDING INTERNAL EQUITY WORK, MEDIA ARCHIVING AND CURRICULUM BUILDING. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF HAVING MAINTAINED SAFE PRACTICES AS TOURING AND PERFORMING RETURNED IN FORCE THROUGHOUT FY 2021. BASED IN OAKLAND FOR THE LAST THIRTY ONE YEARS, BANDALOOP HAS BECOME EMBEDDED IN THE LOCAL FABRIC OF PUBLIC ART AND HAS GROWN AND EXPERIENCED CHANGE ALONGSIDE PEER ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS. WE HAVE PERFORMED SPECIFICALLY IN OVER TWENTY DIFFERENT BAY AREA LOCATIONS, EARNING RESPECT BOTH FOR EXCELLENCE IN PERFORMANCE AND FOR OUR CULTURE OF SAFETY. WE ARE NOW ARTIST IN RESIDENCE AT FOUR DIFFERENT PROPERTIES WITH PUBLIC ACCESS ACROSS THE SAN FRANCISCO / OAKLAND COMMUNITY. BANDALOOP HAS SEVERAL DISTINCTIVE COMMUNITIES THAT IT SERVES: AUDIENCES WORLD-WIDE, LOCAL YOUTH AND ADULT STUDENTS, ARTISTIC COLLABORATORS AND PEERS, AS WELL AS COMMUNITY PARTNERS THAT VISIT OR SUBLET THE BANDALOOP STUDIO. IN FY 2021 WE BEGAN NEGOTITIONS WITH OUR HOME STUDIO PROPERTY OWNER FOR A TEN PLUS TEN YEAR LEASE AT BELOW MARKET RATE AND WITH A TENANT IMPORVEMENT PLAN TO EXPAQND IN SQUARE FOOTAGE, TO NEARLY TWICE OUR CURRENT DANCE STUDIO FOOTPRINT. THIS GROWTH WILL FEED THE ARTS AND DANCE COMMUNITY WITH MORE PROJECT BANDALOOP EDUCATION PROGRAMMING, MORE DANCE REHEARSAL SPACE FOR BANDALOOP AND FOR ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ANCHOR PERMANENT AFFORDABILITY FOR OUR OAKLAND CALIFONRIA BASED DANCE COMPANY. BANDALOOP CONTINUES TO WORK TOWARDS INCREASING ACCESS TO OUR PROGRAMS FOR UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES, ESPECIALLY AT HOME IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, INCLUDING A TWENTY-SIX YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH DESTINY ARTS CENTER, AND MORE RECENTLY A CALIFONRIA ARTS AND CULTURE PLUS AN OAKLAND ARTS COUNCIL FUNDED EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PROGRAM FOR LOCAL YOUTH GROUPS.BANDALOOPS FREE OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES REMOVE BARRIERS TO ATTENDANCE SUCH AS TICKET PURCHASE AND VENUE ACCESS. THE WORK ATTRACTS SOCIO-ECONOMICALLY DIVERSE AUDIENCES BECAUSE OF ITS UNIVERSAL VISUAL AND KINESTHETIC EXPRESSIONS OF FLIGHT AND FREEDOM; ITS DIVERSE MUSICALITY, ITS ATHLETICISM AND REDEFINITION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GRAVITY AND MOVEMENT. BANDALOOP DRAWS LIVE AUDIENCES IN THE THOUSANDS AND ONLINE AUDIENCES IN THE MILLIONS.
