THE KANAKA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ALLIANCE ("KEDA") IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO EMPOWER THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN COMMUNITY AND IMPROVE OUR COLLECTIVE LIVELIHOODS AND THE LIFE OF THE LAND THROUGH SELF-LED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. AT KEDA, WE SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT THAT PROMOTES EQUALITY, INCLUSIVITY, AND ALL OF OUR DIVERSITY AS A PEOPLE.

THE KEDA CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM - THIS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN ENTREPRENEURIAL COMMUNITY AS A LOCUS FOR ACHIEVING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT THAT INCREASES NATIVE HAWAIIAN WEALTH AND INCOME LEVELS IN AN EQUITABLE MANNER. THIS PROGRAM'S 2022 GOALS WERE TO INCREASE THE VISIBILITY AND OPERATIONAL CAPACITY OF NATIVE HAWAIIAN OWNED BUSINESSES AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE NATIVE HAWAIIANS. WE DID THIS THROUGH SEVERAL CONTINUING PROJECTS. THESE PROJECTS ARE THE NATIVE HAWAIIAN BUSINESS DIRECTORY, OUR TALK STORY INTERVIEWS BLOG, THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SHARED COMMUNITY EVALUATION AND DATA COLLECTION TOOL AND RELATED COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SYSTEMS, AND DIRECT ONE ON ONE CAPACITY BUILDING SERVICES TO BUSINESSES AND DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS.
