LAND AND WATER PROTECTION: WORKED TO PROTECT PRIVATE LAND THROUGHOUT COLORADO'S RIO GRANDE BASIN, THE SAN LUIS VALLEY, WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON THE CORRIDORS OF THE RIO GRANDE RIVER AND ITS TRIBUTARIES, THROUGH THE RIO GRANDE INITIATIVE. EXPANDED FOCUS TO INCLUDE UNDERSERVED REGIONS IN THE SAN LUIS VALLEY. CONSERVED THREE PROPERTIES WITH CONSERVATION EASEMENTS IN 2021 TOTALING 374 ACRES AND WORKED ON DUE DILLIGENCE AND GRANT WRITING FOR SEVERAL OTHER CONSERVATION EASEMENTS.CONDUCTED RIPARIAN RESTORATION PROJECTS ALONG THE ALAMOSA RIVER.
STEWARDSHIP: LAUNCHED A LOCAL FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM, LOCAL FARMS TO LOCAL FAMILIES, IN RESPONSE TO COMMUNITY NEEDS BROUGHT ON BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THE LOCAL FARMS TO LOCAL FAMILIES PROGRAM BROUGHT TOGETHER SEVERAL COMMUNITY PARTNERS FROM THE BUSINESS, NON-PROFIT, AND PRIVATE SECTORS TO SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS AND RANCHERS, LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED, AND LOCAL ECONOMIES BY PROVIDING 1,000 LOW INCOME FAMILIES WITH LOCALLY GROWN AND PRODUCED FOOD AND PREPARED MEALS.
