THE MISSION OF PLAY IT FORWARD IS TO PROVIDE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, INSTRUCTION AND INSPIRING OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDENTS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS: ACCEPT NEW AND USED INSTRUMENTS TO GIFT TO STUDENTS. PROVIDE INSTRUMENTS AND INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS THROUGH PIANO LESSONS TAUGHT BY TEACHERS WHO MEET STUDENTS AT THEIR SCHOOL AND/OR PROGRAM LOCATIONS. GIVE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY IT FORWARD RECIPIENTS AT LOCAL OUTREACHES AND RECITALS. PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MUSIC LESSONS TO STUDENTS IN NEED.

PLAY IT FORWARD FACILITATED THE DONATION OF INSTRUMENTS TO MULTIPLE SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY CENTERS, TEACHERS & INDIVIDUALS IMPACTING HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS. 205 INSTRUMENTS WERE GIVEN TO SCHOOLS AND ASPIRING STUDENTS. THE VALUE OF THE PIANOS AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS GIVEN TO THE COMMUNITY TOTALED $240,025.
DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020-21, THE PANDEMIC WAS IN FULL SWING AND MOST LEARNING WAS VIRTUAL FOR STUDENTS. PLAY IT FORWARD MAINTAINED AND GREW THEIR STUDENT ROSTER TO 100 STUDENTS THROUGH THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH 4 DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS, CREATING RELIABLE, NO-COST CREATIVE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDENTS IN NEED. PLAY IT FORWARD OFFERED PIANO, GUITAR AND UKULELE LESSONS. THESE LESSONS WERE TAUGHT BY 9 TEACHERS WHO ALL TAUGHT REMOTELY VIA ZOOM OR OTHER DIGITAL FORMATS. THREE VIRTUALLY STREAMED RECITALS WERE ATTENDED BY 95 STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES SECURING THE RELIABLE RHYTHM OF LEARNING AND SHARING WITH THE COMMUNITY.
