MARCH ON FOUNDATION EXISTS TO INCREASE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, CHAMPION FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS, AND AMPLIFY THE VOICES OF THE UNDERREPRESENTED, MARGINALIZED, AND OPPRESSED IN ORDER TO EMPOWER AND SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITIES.

IN MARYLAND, WE ORGANIZED OUR SIGNATURE EVENT, ANNAPOLIS' 5TH ANNUAL WOMEN'S UNITY MARCH IN APRIL 2021, WHICH DREW SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE TO THE MARYLAND CAPITAL TO HEAR SPEAKERS FROM LOCAL GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS AND MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. THE MARCH WAS LIVE STREAMED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19 AND HAD OVER 1K VIEWS.WE LAUNCHED OUR COVID RAPID-RESPONSE PROJECTS IN 2020, AND HAVE CONTINUED OUR SUPPORT IN 2021 AS THE EFFECTS OF THE PANDEMIC LINGERS. SOME PROJECTS STARTED TO WRAP UP OPERATIONS WHILE OTHERS HAVE SCALED UP. OUR SIGNATURE PROJECT DINE 11, WHICH SERVED RESTAURANT AND FRONTLINE MEDICAL WORKERS IMPACTED BY COVID-19 WITH MEAL DONATIONS, WRAPPED UP ITS LARGEST OPERATIONS IN SAN FRANCISCO IN APRIL 2022. THE PROJECT HAS RAISED OVER $681K AND DELIVERED OVER 88K MEALS ACROSS 8 CITIES SINCE THE PANDEMIC. MEANWHILE, THE COCO FUND, WHICH PROVIDES IMMEDIATE FINANCIAL RELIEF IN $500 NEED-BASED MICROGRANTS FOR HOSPITALITY WORKERS, GAVE ITS 100TH GRANT IN JULY, SUPPORTED BY A 20K GRANT FROM RESTAURANT WORKERS' COMMUNITY FOUNDATION IN HONOR OF MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH. THE COCO FUND ALSO ORGANIZED TWO VIRTUAL PANELS FEATURING SPEAKERS FROM NONPROFIT PEERS AND GRASSROOT ORGANIZERS; TO DATE THEY HAVE COLLECTIVELY RECEIVED OVER 7K VIEWS. OUR FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM WITH MARCH ON WAS RESTRUCTURED AND RELAUNCHED IN FEBRUARY 2021 AS FUTURE INCUBATOR. THIS NATIONAL PROGRAM GIVES YOUTH-LED AND GRASSROOT GROUPS THE PROFESSIONAL TOOLS, SKILLS, AND RELATIONSHIPS NEEDED TO RUN SUCCESSFUL, LEAN ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2021 WE SUPPORTED 22 ORGANIZATIONS WORKING AT THE INTERSECTION OF IMPACT AREAS LIKE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE; MANY ARE ALSO CLIMATE-RELATED. MAJORITY OF ORGANIZATIONS ARE LED BY HISTORICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS.
