WE PROVIDE IMMEDIATE DISASTER RELIEF AND RECOVERY TO COMMUNITIES THAT ARE IN CRISIS RESULTING FROM DISASTER OR HUMAN CONFLICT. UNRESOLVED TRAUMA CAN HAVE REPERCUSSIONS FOR DECADES. WE TRAIN AND SUPPORT VOLUNTEER ACUPUNCTURISTS TO PROVIDE TREATMENT TO INTERRUPT THIS CYCLE OF PAIN AND RELIEVE SUFFERING.

TRAININGS: THIS PROGRAM TRAINS ACUPUNCTURISTS NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY TO PROVIDE TRAUMA TREATMENT SERVICES TO SURVIVORS OF NATURAL AND HUMAN DISASTERS. * TRAINED APPROXIMATELY 500 ACUPUNCTURISTS FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES IN TRAUMA RECOVERY AND FIELD PROTOCOLS; PREPARE MENTORED THEM IN HOW TO LAUNCH DISASTER RECOVERY EFFORTS; AND TRAINED THEM TO ESTABLISH TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE SERVICE PROJECTS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. * SUPPORTED FIELD TRAINING TO TEN LOCAL MIDWIVES IN MEXICO TO LEARN TRAUMA REDUCTION TREATMENT METHODOLOGIES * PROVIDED A FIVE-MODULE IN-DEPTH CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE AND TRAUMA RECOVERY TO PRACTITIONERS ACROSS THE U.S. * DEVELOPED MULTIPLE ON-LINE COURSES FOR ACUPUNCTURISTS ON TOPICS SUCH AS CLINICAL TOOLS FOR TRAUMA RECOVERY SELF CARE LEADERSHIP CLINICAL SAFETY ALTERNATIVES TO OPIOIDS QI GONG AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY OF ACUPUNCTURE


DOMESTIC COMMUNITY SERVICE CLINICS: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES FREE EAR ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENTS FOR POPULATIONS AFFECTED BY TRAUMATIC EVENTS INCLUDING REFUGEES ELDERS THE HOMELESS AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE SURVIVORS. * AWB CURRENTLY SUPPORTS 20 COMMUNITY SERVICE CLINICS FOR VARIOUS POPULATIONS INCLUDING REFUGEES ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED PEOPLE AND AT-RISK YOUTH; ALL ARE STAFFED AND COORDINATED BY VOLUNTEERS. SOME CLINICS PAUSED THEIR SERVICES BEGINNING DUE TO COVID PUBLIC HEALTH REGULATIONS.


INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY CLINICS: THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL COMMUNITY SERVICE CLINICS INTERNATIONALLY THAT THEN PROVIDE ONGOING TRAUMA TREATMENTS TO UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS IMPACTED BY TRAUMATIC EVENTS. * AWB SUPPORTED FIVE MOBILE COMMUNITY SERVICE CLINICS IN HAITI FOR CITIZENS CONTINUING TO SUFFER PAIN AND TRAUMA AFTER THE DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE IN 2010 AND RECENT SOCIAL UNREST * AWB SUPPORTED A COMMUNITY SERVICE CLINIC IN ATHENS GREECE FOR WOMEN REFUGEES * AWB SUPPORTED A COMMUNITY CLINIC PROJECT IN NEPAL FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN RESCUED FROM TRAFFICKING * AWB SUPPORTED AN INTEGRATIVE HEALTH CLINIC PHARMACY FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS IN TIJUANA MEXICO * AWB SUPPORTED DEPORTED VETERANS IN MEXICO WITH ACUPUNCTURE AND MASSAGE SERCIES IN COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
