IN 2021, THE COUNCIL'S PRIMARY ACTIVITIES INVOLVED:- FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITIES ON COUNCIL'S TWO MOST RECENT NPC REPORTS PREPARED AT THE REQUEST OF THE SECRETARY OF ENERGY:- DEVELOPMENT AND PRIORITIZATION OF A LIST OF HIGH-VALUE, HIGH-IMPACT STUDY TOPICS THAT MIGHT BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE COUNCIL'S CONSIDERATION AT THE REQUEST OF THE SECRETARY OF ENERGY IN 2021.- OPERATING DURING COVID-19 FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITIES ON RECENT NPC REPORTS IN DECEMBER 2019, THE COUNCIL APPROVED TWO FINAL REPORTS RESULTING FROM TWO-YEAR STUDIES IT CONDUCTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE SECRETARY OF ENERGY: - DYNAMIC DELIVERY AMERICA'S EVOLVING OIL AND NATURAL GAS TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE- MEETING THE DUAL CHALLENGE A ROADMAP TO AT-SCALE DEPLOYMENT OF CARBON CAPTURE, USE, AND STORAGE 2021 POST-REPORT-APPROVAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDED FINAL NPC WEBSITE EDITING AND POSTING OF STUDY REPORTS AND OTHER MATERIALS.. ALSO, CONTINUED TO ASSIST THE TWO STUDY TEAMS IN RESPONDING TO REQUESTED PRESENTATIONS TO VARIOUS INTERESTED PARTIES INCLUDING GOVERNMENT, NEWS MEDIA, NGOS, THINK TANKS, ACADEMIA, AND INDUSTRY AND IN RESPONDING TOINTERNET, EMAIL, AND TELEPHONIC REQUESTS. POTENTIAL NPC STUDY TOPICS THE COUNCIL UTILIZED ITS COCHAIRS' COORDINATING COMMITTEE (CCC) TO DEVELOP AND PRIORITIZE A LIST OF POTENTIAL NPC TOPICS. THIS ACTIVITY WAS UNDERTAKEN WITH THE CONCURRENCE OF THE SECRETARY OF ENERGY AND WAS STARTED IN THE FALL OF 2020 WAS COMPLETED IN MID-2021. THE RECOMMENDED TOPICS WERE THEN PRESENTED AND DISCUSSED WITH THE NEW SECRETARY OF ENERGY, WHO LATER IN 2021 REQUESTED THE COUNCIL TO UNDERTAKE A STUDY ON ONE OF THESE TOPICS DEPLOYMENT OF LOW AND ZERO CARBON HYDROGEN ENERGY AT SCALE THROUGH THE ENTIRE VALUE CHAIN. COVID-19STARTING IN MARCH 2020 INTO 2021, THE COUNCIL INITIATED REMOTE OPERATIONS IN RESPONSE TO THE PANDEMIC.
