AT LEADERSHIP MARYLAND, WE HARNESS THAT STRENGTH BY BRINGING TOGETHER LOCAL LEADERS FROM ALL SECTORS, INDUSTRIES, AND GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS OF OUR STATE-PEOPLE WITH A PASSION FOR MAKING MARYLAND THE BEST PLACE TO WORK AND LIVE. TOGETHER, WE ENGAGE ON THE VITAL ISSUES AFFECTING OUR STATE AND WORK TO BUILD SOLUTIONS FOR REAL, ACTIONABLE CHANGE.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

50 MARYLAND LEADERS FROM BUSINESS, NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, EDUCATION, AND THE PUBLIC SECTOR PARTICIPATED IN A YEAR-LONG PROGRAM FOCUSED ON THE STATE OF MARYLAND. LEADERS MET DURING EIGHT MONTHS OF THE YEAR IN DIFFERENT REGIONS OF THE STATE FOR A SERIES OF CLASSES AND HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES THAT HIGHLIGHTED LOCAL, REGIONAL, AND STATEWIDE ISSUES. PROSPECTIVES WERE BROADENED ON A NUMBER OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ISSUES FACING THE STATE, INCLUDING EDUCATION, HEALTH AND HUMAN SERIVES, CRIMINAL JUSTICE, ENVIRONMENT, AND DIVERSITY AND MULTI-CULTURALISM.


MARYLAND LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS PROVIDES PEER LED LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH SUMMER AND PERIODIC OUTREACH PROGRAMS. PARTICIPANTS IN THE 2022 SUMMER PROGRAM, NUMBERING 119, INCLUDED MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION AND BEYOND WHO TOOK PART IN THREE DIFFERENT LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS. THIS NUMBER WAS DOWN FROM PRE-PANDEMIC YEARS DUE TO AN EFFORT TO LIMIT PARTICIPANTS FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID PANDEMIC WHICH WERE STILL LINGERING WITH PARENTS AT THAT TIME. PARTICIPANTS IN THE PERIODIC OUTREACH PROGRAMS, NUMBERING 90, INCLUDED TAILORED LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCES FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ACROSS MARYLAND.
