TO PROVIDE HOUSING, EDUCATIONAL AND LIFE SKILLS SUPPORT TO YOUTH WHO ARE PROGRESSING IN THEIR EDUCATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS AND VOLUNTEER HOST FAMILIES.

PROVIDED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES AND INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO LOCAL AND COUNTY RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. IN 2022 156 STUDENTS WERE ASSISTED THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES. 13 STUDENTS COMPLETED GRADUATION WITH 8 HELD OVER FOR GRADUATION IN 2023. COMMUNITY PARTNERS INCLUDE INITAI FOUNDATION, LIBERTY HILL FOUNDATION, SATTERBERG FOUNDATION, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, DCYF, SHELTON YOUTH CONNECTION, DSHS, MASON GENERAL HOSPITAL, CROSSROADS HOUSING, THE SHELTON SCHOOL DISTRICT, NORTH MASON SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE HOST HOME COALITION OF WA STATE.


THE COMMUNITY LEARNING GRANT PROVIDED FUNDS TO PROVIDE HOMELESSNESS SERVICES AND PROGRAM SERVICES TO YOUTH IN MASON COUNTY. THOSE SERVICES ARE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES, MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT, EDUCATION COUNSELING/ADVOCACY, EMPLOYMENT READINESS AND JOB SEARCH, INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILL TRAINING, FINANCIAL LITERACY TRAINING, TUTORING AND COLLEGE READINESS.


SYSTEMS, POWER AND ACTION GRANT WAS RECEIVED LATE IN THE YEAR. THIS GRANT WILL BE USED PRIMARILY TO BETTER SYSTEMS ACROSS MASON COUNTY FOR YOUTH. THOSE SYSTEMS MAY INCLUDE JUVENILE JUSTICE, EDUCATION, HOUSING, IMMIGRATION STATUS/OPTIONS AND YOUTH EQUITY. IN ADDITION, THE MASON COUNTY HOST WILL PROVIDE HOUSING AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TO HOST FAMILIES AND STUDENTS.
