PROJECT R.A.C.E. (RETURNING AMERICAN CITIZENS EMPOWERED) AN R3 (RESTORE, REINVEST, AND RENEW) FUNDED PROGRAM THROUGH THE STATE OF ILLINOIS R3 BOARD (CHAIRWOMAN, LT. GOV. JULIANA STRATTON) AND THE ILLINOIS CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION AUTHORITYPROJECT R.A.C.E. IS A NEW GRANT-FUNDED PROGRAM MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE RESTORE-REINVEST-RENEW (R3) BOARD AND THE ILLINOIS CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION AUTHORITY, THAT USES 25% OF STATE-WIDE SALES TAX REVENUE TO FUND GRASS ROOTS INITIATIVES WITH ORGANIZATIONS. OUR ORGANIZATION USES THESE FUNDS TO STUDY A MAJOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECT THAT THE IMPLEMENTING AGENCY IS GEARING UP TO FUND, AND A RE-ENTRY PROGRAM. WE ARE STUDYING THE FEASIBILITY (ALONG WITH MARKET ANALYSIS AND FINANCIAL FORECAST) FOR BUILDING A NEW COMMUNITY CENTER/SPORTS COMPLEX ON SPRINGFIELD'S EASTSIDE. IN ADDITION, WE ARE OPERATING A RE-ENTRY PROGRAM THAT WILL SERVE UP TO THIRTY WITH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES AND UPTO SIXTY IN TOTALITY WITH CAMP EXPERIENCE, JOB TRAINING, ACCESS TO TRADE SCHOOL, AND JOB PLACEMENT. WE ARE HOPING TO TRANSITION ALL PARTICIPANTS IN RESIDENTIAL SERVICES INTO THEIR OWN RESIDENCES AFTER RESIDING UP TO ONE YEAR IN OUR PROGRAMS.
