YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT'S WHY WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. OUR YMCA PROGRAMS, SUCH AS YOUTH SPORTS, SWIM LESSONS, SWIM TEAM,CHILDCARE, FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE AND YOUTH CRAFT CLASSES OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH. EXPENSES INCLUDE SUBSIDIES AND DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT MAKE PARTICIPATION POSSIBLE FOR 18 PERCENT OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE WE ENGAGE. THE ALGONA FAMILY YMCA OFFERS PROGRAMS TO INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES. PROGRAM AREAS INCLUDE: CHILDCARE, YOUTH SPORTS, ADULT SPORTS, MENTORING, HEALTH & WELLNESS, TEEN PROGRAMS, AND ADULT PROGRAMS. ALL PROGRAMS HELP DEVELOP THE PERSON SPIRITUALLY, MENTALLY, AND/OR PHYSICALLY. WE ALSO IMPROVE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BY INSTRUCTING CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY IN OUR PROGRAMS. OUR YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS ARE LEAD BY VOLUNTEERS. AS WE ARE A MEMBER ORGANIZATION, MEMBERSHIP IS ALSO AVAILABLE TO INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES, RACE, ABILTY AND INCOME LEVELS. YMCA MEMBERS HAVE ACCESS TO ALL PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE TO ANY INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY WHO IS UNABLE TO PAY THE STATED PRICE OF A MEMBERSHIP AND CAN SHOW NEED.
