THE INDIANA COUNTY WILLIAM A. WAUGH PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY HAS AS ITS PURPOSE TO TRAIN LOCAL FIRE COMPANIES IN THE PROPER WAY TO FIRST PREVENT THREATS TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECONDLY TO REDUCE THE DAMAGE CAUSED TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY BY THESE THREATS TO THE PUBLIC.

LOCAL LEVEL STUDENT TUITION FEES GENERATED A TOTAL OF $ 67,978.00 IN 2021. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAMS WERE ALSO DELIVERED, GENERATING ADDITIONAL REVENUE OF 75,145.08. PROGRAMS WERE PROVIDED IN ONSITE AND REMOTE DELIVERY FORMATS.


GRANT FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE INDIANA COUNTY LOCAL EMERGENCY PLANNING COMMITTEE (LEPC),THROUGH THE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY PLANNING (HMEP) GRANT PROGRAM, TOTALED $39,027.50. THESE FUNDS WERE USED EXCLUSIVELY TO COVER THE COST OF TRAINING FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONDERS AND NATIONAL INCIDENT COMMAND COURSES ON SITE, AND REDUCING THE COST TO DELIVER THESE SAME PROGRAMS VIA AN IN-HOUSE DELIVERY PROGRAM. ALL FIRST RESPONDERS AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES ARE OFFERED THIS TRAINING ON AN ANNUAL BASIS TO MEET THE REQUIREMENT OF CFR 1910.120.


GRANT FUNDS RECEIVED FROM COMCAST; THE PITTSBURGH FOUNDATION; FOUNDATION FOR THE ALLEGHENIES; INDIANA KIWANIS CLUB; AND THE INDIANA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ACT-13 ALLOCATIONS TOTALED $50,196.41. THESE FUNDS ARE USED TO ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY; AND PERFORM INFRASTRUCTURE AND EQUIPMENT UPGRADES THROUGHOUT THE FACILITY.
