OUR MISSION IS TO WELCOME, EMPOWER, EDUCATE, AND ADVOCATE FOR NEW SIOUXLAND FAMILIES.

IMMIGRANT SERVICES-THE COMMUNITY HOUSE IS RECOGNIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ) TO PROVIDE IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES AND IS THE ONLY LOCAL NON-PROFIT THAT IS DOJ ACCREDITED WITH LICENSED ATTORNEYS. IT IS ALSO A REMOTE SETTLEMENT ORGANIZATION UNDER AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNITED STATES CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS, MIGRATION AND REFUGEE SERVICES. EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS LEAD ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNER AND CITIZENSHIP CLASSES AT THE COMMUNITY HOUSE. BILINGUAL STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION SERVICES IN EIGHT LANGUAGES.


CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS- THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM IS LICENSED BY THE DHS WITH A QUALITY RATING OF 4. IT IS CONNECTED WITH LICENSED PRESCHOOLS IN THE SIOUX CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND OTHERS WITHIN SIOUXLAND. IT UTILIZES CREATIVE CURRICULUM FOR PRESCHOOL WHICH IS A COMPREHENSIVE, RESEARCH-BASED CURRICULUM THAT PROMOTES EXPLORATION AND DISCOVERY AS A WAY OF LEARNING, ENABLING CHILDREN TO DEVELOP CONFIDENCE, CREATIVITY, AND LIFELONG CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS. ABRA PALABRA IS A PROGRAM PROVIDING SPANISH LESSONS FOR FOUR TO SIX YEAR OLDS.


VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA)-IRS CERTIFIED VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE FREE TAX PREPARATION SERVICES TO LOW INCOME CLIENTS WHILE EDUCATING THEM ABOUT INCOME TAXES AND FINANCIAL LITERACY TOOLS. COMMUNITY GARDEN-GARDEN PLOTS ARE AVAILABLE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO TEND AND REAP THE PRODUCE. EXTRA PRODUCE IS SHARED IN THE COMMUNITY AT NO COST.
