THE MISSION OF THE LAO ASSISTANCE CENTER OF MINNESOTA IS TO INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF THE THE LAO-AMERICAN POPULATION IN MINNESOTA BY RESPONDING TO THE COMMUNITY IDENTIFIED NEEDS THROUGH DEVELOPING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT PROMOTE THE WELL-BEING OF FAMILIES AND CHILDREN WHILE RETAINING THEIR CULTURAL HERITAGE

ANNUAL ENGAGEMENT OF OVER 5,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS INCLUDING YOUTH, ADULTS AND ELDERS. LACM'S COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMS FOCUS ON STABILIZING FAMILIES, NAVIGATING COMPLEX SYSTEMS, INCREASING AWARENESS AND KNOWLEDGE, AND CREATING PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS. OUR INITIATIVES ENCOMPASS VARIOUS CRITICAL AREAS, INCLUDING HOUSING STABILITY, MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS, COVID-19, CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH AND DIABETES, DIRECT ASSISTANCE (FOR ESSENTIAL NEEDS SUCH AS FOOD SECURITY, FUNERAL ASSISTANCE, BENEFIT APPLICATION ASSISTANCE, CITIZENSHIP GUIDANCE), WOMENS HEALTH, CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMMING AND MORE. OUR PROGRAMMING IN OPIOIDS, TOBACCO, AND GAMBLING FOCUSES ON SHIFTING CULTURAL NORMS AND CREATING HEALTHIER HABITS. ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS ENCOMPASSING AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS, SYSTEM NAVIGATION, AND IN-LANGUAGE GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT. ANNUALLY REACHING OVER 15,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH IN-LANGUAGE AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS, LACM PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN DISSEMINATING RELEVANT INFORMATION AND RESOURCES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. BY PROVIDING CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AND LINGUISTICALLY APPROPRIATE SERVICES, LACM SIGNIFICANTLY CONTRIBUTES TO CREATING A STRONGER, MORE RESILIENT, AND INFORMED COMMUNITY, EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES, ACCESS VITAL RESOURCES, AND ACHIEVE PERSONAL AND COLLECTIVE SUCCESS.
