MEALS ON WHEELS HEIGHTS/BEACHWOOD SERVES THE CITIZENS OF SHAKER HEIGHTS, BEACHWOOD, UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS AND SOME PARTS OF CLEVELAND AND WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS. CLIENTS RANGE IN AGE FROM 92 TO 51 AND DO NOT HAVE TO PROVE A NEED. WE OFFER PREPARED MEALS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK CONSISTING OF A LUNCH AND A HOT DINNER ENTRÉE OF A STARCH, VEGETABLE, AND PROTEIN. INCLUDED IN LUNCH IS A SANDWICH, SALAD AND CHIPS OR COOKIE. OCCASIONALLY THE MEALS ARE SUPPLEMENTED WITH SOUP. ALL MEALS MEET THE ESTABLISHED FEDERAL NUTRITION GUIDELINES. MEALS ARE HOME DELIVERED MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY. COST TO THE CLIENTS RANGE FROM $5.50 TO $10.00 PER DAY FOR THE TWO MEALS DEPENDING ON HOW LARGE A SUBSIDY THEY NEED. WE SERVED 5,587 MEALS IN 2023 AND DUE TO INCREASED COSTS OF THE FOOD WE ARE NOW WHOLLY SUBSIDIZING 100% OF OUR CLIENTS RANGING FROM $4.50 TO $1.00 PER CLIENT PER MEAL. IN ADDITION TO DELIVERING FOOD WE ALSO PROVIDE A CHECK OF OUR CLIENT'S WELL-BEING AND HAVE FREQUENTLY IN THE PAST NEEDED TO TAKE ACTION TO INSURE A CLIENT'S SAFETY AND CONTINUED INDEPENDENCE.
