SINCE 1971, WE HAVE CONTINUOUSLY SERVED ERIES SENIORS THROUGH A LEGION OF CARING VOLUNTEERS, DELIVERING MEALS FROM ONLY A FEW DAYS TO OVER 45 YEARS. OUR NETWORK OF VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF MEMBERS ARE HELPING TO ACHIEVE THE GOAL OF ELIMINATING SENIOR HUNGER BY DELIVERING NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND BUILDING PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS EVERY DAY. TOGETHER, WE ARE ENSURING THAT ERIES SENIORS ARE CARED FOR, NOT FORGOTTEN. MEALS ON WHEELS ERIE PROMOTES HEATHY, INDEPENDENT LIVING THROUGH HOME DELIVERY OF NUTRITION SERVICES.

A TOTAL OF 20,803 MEALS WERE BOUGHT AND DELIVERED TO AN AVERAGE OF 85 CLIENTS EACH DAY (M-F). THESE CLIENTS ARE ABLE TO PAY A FEE FOR THIS SERVICE AND REQUEST DELIVERY OF MEALS DUE TO POOR HEALTH, HANDICAP, MENTAL INCAPACITY, OR LACK OF ABILITY TO PREPARE MEALS FOR THEMSELVES. OUR CARING VOLUNTEERS ALSO PROVIDE A DAILY CHECK ON THEM AS MOST ARE HOMEBOUND AND LIVE ALONE.
A TOTAL OF 10,234 MEALS WERE DELIVERED FREE-OF-CHARGE TO A DAILY AVERAGE OF 49 CLIENTS WHO ARE DISABLED AND UNDER THE AGE OF 60. THIS PROGRAM IS PROVIDED THROUGH THE ERIE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES & ERIE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING/COVID RELIEF. INTAKE AND FOLLOW-UP VISTIS IN THE HOME ARE CONDUCTED BY OUR STAFF. OUR CARING VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE THE DAILY CONTAT AND DROP-OFF OF MEALS. SERVICE IS PROVIDED M-F.
A TOTAL OF 8,788 MEALS WERE BOUGHT AND DELIEVERED FOR AN AVERAGE OF 26 CLIENTS WHO HAVE DISGNOSED MEDICAL DISABILITIES AND REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SERVICES. SERVICE IS PROVIDED M-F. THIS PROGRAM IS PROVIDED BY THE UPMC HEALTH PLAN WHERE CLIENTS ARE GIVEN AN ELIGIBILTIY CARD THAT IS PRESENTED TO REQUEST SERVICES FROM UPMC.
