THE PROGRAMS OF SPIRITUAL NATURE AT THE RESIDENCE CENTER CENTER IS ENTRUSTED TO OPUS DEI, THE PERSONAL PRELATURE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.FROM THE DIRECTOR - CARMINA RICAFORT2017 MARKED THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF WESTFILED RESIDENCE, WHICH THANKS TO THE GRANCE OF GOD, HARD WORK, AMD GENEROUS BENEFACTORS, IS POISED FOR FURTHER EXPANSION. SINCE ITS BEGINNINGS, WESTFIELD HAS CONSISTENTLY OFFERED LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS AND A FAMILY HOMELIKE ENVIRONMENT TO COLLEGE WOMEN, AIMING TO MAKE POSITIVE IMPACT ON LOS ANGELES AND BEYOND BY INSPIRING THEM TO THINK GLOBALLY, WORK WITH A SOCIAL CONSCIENCE, AND BRING A POSTIVE CHANGE TO THEIR OWN HOME, PROFESSION, AND COMMUNITY.THIS PAST 2018 HAS BEEN BUSTLING WITH ACTIVITY FOR US HERE AT WESTFIELD. WE CONTINUE WITH ALL OUR EFFORTS TO STRENGTHEN OUR FUTURE WOMEN LEADERS THROUGH OUR PROGRAMS. AMONG FEW, THE COLLEGE WOMEN THAT COME TO WESTFIELD HAD BECOME COMMITTED TO REACH OUT TO LONELY ELDERLY EVERY MONTH AND TO START A SERVICE PROJECT IN LONG BEACH SUMMER 2019. A HIGHLIGHT OF 2018 WAS A TRIP TO ROME TO ATTEND THE UNIV CONGRESS. THE COLLEGE WOMEN MET OTHER GIRLS LIKE THEMSELVES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD, ACCOMPANIED THE POPE IN THE CELEBRATION OF HOLY WEEK, AND EVEN PRESENTED AN ACADEMIC PAPER AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE. WE THANK THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED TO SCHOLARTSHIPS TO MAKE THE EXPREIENCE POSSIBLE FOR SOME OF THE GRILS.LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! WAS A TOTAL SUCCESS AS USUAL. WE HAD TIM RECKART, DIRECTOR OF THE MOVIE "THE STAR" EXPLAIN HOW DIRECTING IS THE PROCESS OF PULLING THE BEST OUT OF EACH PERSON INVOLVED IN THE MAKING OF A MOVIE. AT CBS TELEVISION, THE GIRLS ATTENDING GOT TO TRY THEIR HAND IN WRITING PROMOS. TOURING ISS, THE LARGEST PROP STUDIO IN HOLLYWOOD, THEY HAD A FRONT SEAT VIEW OF THE DETAILS THAT NEED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR EVERY SINGLE SHOT.OUR RESIDENTS AND THEIR FRIENDS STARTED A STUDENT-RUN CLUB CALLED MONTEMARE, INSPIRED BY THEIR DRIVE TO HELP OTHER COLLEGE STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL SKILLS. THEIR MISSION ISTO FILL IN THE GAPS LEFT BY THE ACADEMIC FOCUS OF COLLEGE AND FIND MOTIVATION TO GIVE MORE MEANING TO THEIR LIVES. THE NAME OF THE CLUB IS TAKEN FROM ITALIAN FOR MOUNTAIN AND SEA AS THEY STRIVE TO AIM HIGH AND GO DEEP. (HTTPS"//LAMONTEMARE.WIXSITE.COM/HOME). THE CLUB HAS BEEN A SUCCESS AND MANY YOUNG WOMEN HAVE BEEN ATTENDING. IN THE MOST RECENT ONE BEFORE CHRISTMAS WE BECAME CONVINCED THAT HOSTING DINNER PARTIES ACTUALLY WILL CONTRIBUTE TO SAVING THE WORLD, AND IN JANUARY, WE WILL FOCUS ON THE IMPACT OF WORKING WELL.THE RETREATS HAVE HAD FAR REACHING EFFECTS. THANKS TO YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO HELP SUBSIDIZE THE COST OF THE RETREATS, OVER 60 HIGH SCHOOLS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS HAVE MADE A RETREAT THIS SCHOOL YEAR.
