OUR FIRST PROGRAM IS AN OUTREACH PROGRAM THAT HELPS MOMS CREATE A SUPPORT SYSTEM WITH A MENTOR AND/OR SUPPORT MOM. THIS MENTORSHIP AND PEER SUPPORT CREATES CONNECTION TO ANOTHER MOM WHO HAS "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT- AND CAN EMPATHIZE WITH WHATEVER CHALLENGES NEW MOMS ARE FACING. OUR CLEARINGHOUSE OF RESOURCES HAS ALSO SUPPORTED DOUGLAS COUNTY FAMILIES AS WE HAVE REFERRED FAMILIES TO MANY COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES. OUR REFERRAL PROCESS IS ROBUST AND EXTREMELY COMMUNITY BASED AS WE SEE THE NEED AND OPPORTUNITIES CREATED WHEN A COMMUNITY TAPS INTO THE IMPACTFUL LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS CREATING CHANGE AND SUPPORT FOR ITS CONSTITUENTS. OUR SECOND PROGRAM, STRONG MAMAS, THRIVING BABIES (SMTB) CREATES FULL SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR NEW MOMS GIVING BIRTH AT A HOSPITAL IN DOUGLAS COUNTY (ENGAGEMENT/RELATIONSHIP/CONTRACTS ARE NOT FINAL, SO WE ARE NOT AT LIBERTY TO DISCLOSE THE HOSPITAL PARTNER AT THIS TIME.). WITHIN THIS PROGRAM, EVERY NEW MOM WILL BE OFFERED A FULL YEAR OF WRAP-AROUND SUPPORT, INCLUDING PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT, ACCESS/REFERRALS TO ORGANIZATIONS AND BUSINESSES THAT SUPPORT DOUGLAS COUNTY, CLASSES AND TRAININGS LED BY METROPOLITAN STATE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO MASTERS OF SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS, AN ONLINE COMMUNITY (STRONG MAMAS APP), AND FOLLOW-UP CALLS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ENSURE MOMS DON'T FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS, CREATING FURTHER MENTAL HEALTH CRISES IN OUR COMMUNITY. THIS PEER MENTORING PROGRAM WILL SUPPORT MOMS AND MOTHERHOOD MORE THAN EVER BEFORE, AND BECAUSE MOTHERS ARE THE PILLARS OF OUR COMMUNITY, THIS PROGRAM WILL THEREBY PROMOTE POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH FOR OUR COMMUNITIES.
