Part 3
1.RESILIENCY TRAINING FOR EX-OFFENDERS WE OFFER RESILIENCE TRAINING FOR MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE RECENTLY BEEN RELEASED FROM THE UTAH CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT ON PAROLE OR PROBATION. THESE MEN AND WOMEN ARE FORMER FELONS WHO FREQUENTLY SUFFER FROM DRUG AND ALCOHOL ADDICTION, LOW EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT, BROKEN FAMILIES AND RELATIONSHIPS, UNEMPLOYMENT/UNDEREMPLOYMENT, AND LIMITED HOUSING OPTIONS. WE OFFER WEEKLY RESILIENCY CLASSES TO THESE MEN AND WOMEN. OUR GOAL IS TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM THROUGH SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS AND NEW INFORMATION THAT CAN ASSIST PARTICIPANTS IN DEVELOPING PROTECTIVE FACTORS. THESE PROTECTIVE FACTORS INCREASE SELF-AWARENESS, INSTILL RESILIENCE, AND REDUCE NEGATIVE AND IMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR AS THE MEN AND WOMEN ATTEMPT TO ESTABLISH HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR FAMILIES, BECOME ECONOMICALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT, AND PRODUCTIVELY INVOLVED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. 2.YOUTH RESILIENCY MENTORING PROGRAM WE OFFER RESILIENCY LESSONS TO YOUTH WITH RISK FACTORS. THESE RISK FACTORS ARE DEFINED AS ANY DISRUPTION IN HARMONY, I.E., DOMESTIC, LOW INCOME, DEATH, ILLNESS, OR DEVELOPMENTAL, SOCIAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND SPIRITUAL DISRUPTIONS. OUR PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO ASSIST AT-RISK YOUTH IN BUILDING A RESOURCE OF ABILITIES THAT DEFEND AGAINST DISCOURAGEMENT AND SELF- DEFEATING BEHAVIORS. THESE BEHAVIORS PREVENT YOUTH FROM ACHIEVING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL IN SOCIETY. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ALSO FILLED WITH POSITIVE MESSAGES THAT INSTILL HOPE AND A GREATER SENSE OF WORTH AND PURPOSE. EXAMPLES OF LESSON TOPICS: THE INHERENT GREATNESS OF YOU, INTUITION, REBOUNDING, SELF-TALK, AND GRATITUDE. IN EACH LESSON, WE USE OUR TIME- PROVEN "STORY METAPHOR METHOD" THAT DEMONSTRATES VALUES, CHARACTER, COURAGE, AND RESILIENCY. HIARC CONTINUES OUR MISSION: "TO ADVANCE WHOLE-PERSON HEALTH AND HEALING BY AWAKENING INHERENT INNER STRENGTHS DESIGNED TO INSTILL PERSONAL POWER, STIMULATE RESILIENCY, ENHANCE AWARENESS, AND INSPIRE HOPE AND PURPOSE. "TO TRAIN AND SUPPORT AT-RISK AND/OR UNDER-SERVED YOUTH AND ADULTS IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO NEED INTENSIVE ASSISTANCE IN LEARNING AND APPLYING EVIDENCE- BASED RESILIENCE PRINCIPLES. WE CONTINUE THIS MISSION BY OFFERING WEEKLY RESILIENCY TRAINING CLASSES TO MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE RECENTLY BEEN RELEASED FROM THE UTAH CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT ON PAROLE OR PROBATION. OUR GOAL IS TO REDUCE RECIDIVISM THROUGH SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIPS AND NEW INFORMATION THAT CAN ASSIST PARTICIPANTS IN DEVELOPING PROTECTIVE FACTORS. THESE PROTECTIVE FACTORS INCREASE SELF- AWARENESS, INSTILL RESILIENCE, AND REDUCE NEGATIVE AND IMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR AS THE MEN AND WOMEN ATTEMPT TO ESTABLISH HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR FAMILIES, BECOME ECONOMICALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT, AND PRODUCTIVELY INVOLVED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES. IN 2022 WE OFFERED 93 CLASSES TO 98 MEN AND WOMEN ON PROBATION OR PAROLE. OF THOSE NUMBERS, 68 GRADUATED, HAVING COMPLETED 8 OR MORE CLASSES. THE PARTICIPANTS HAVE MADE POSITIVE REMARKS ABOUT THE LESSONS FOR EXAMPLE, "IN THIS CLASS I HAVE LEARNED TO CREATE NEW WAYS TO OVERCOME MY FRICTIONS IN MY LIFE. HOW TO CARVE THE WAYS OF MY OLD THINKING INTO BUILDING BLOCKS TO IMPROVE MY NEUROPATHWAYS TO HEALTHIER LEARNING. SELF LOVE AND WORTH. I HAVE ALSO LEARNED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ACTUALLY BEING PROUD IN MYSELF FOR OVERCOMING MY FEARS AND COMPLACENCY WITH MY OLD WAYS & LIFESTYLE. MAKES ME WANT TO STAY FOCUSED IN MY LIFE & WANT BETTER IN MY RELATIONSHIPS. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR TEACHINGS DR AL." THESE PARTICIPANTS ARE CONTINUING TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND APPLY NEW WAYS OF THINKING AND BEING THAT LEAD TO A HEALTHIER, HAPPIER, MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFE. WE CONTINUE TO PROVIDE THE YOUTH RESILIENCY MENTORING PROGRAM. IN 2022 WE DELIVERED 84 LESSONS TO 212 AT-RISK YOUTH. ONE OF THE TEACHERS OF THE YOUTH WE MENTORED STATED, "WE HAD THE RESILIENCY PROGRAM LESSONS OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL WEEKS. MY STUDENTS LOVED THE LESSONS AND LOOKED FORWARD TO THEM EACH DAY WHAT SEEMS TO HAVE STUCK WITH MY STUDENTS THE MOST IS THE SAYING FROM THE PROGRAM, 'IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME'. IT TAUGHT THEM THAT THEY HAVE CONTROL OVER THEIR MINDSET. MY STUDENTS KNOW THEY WILL FACE CHALLENGES AND ADVERSITY. THIS PROGRAM TAUGHT THEM WORDS TO SAY AND THE ATTITUDE TO HAVE WHEN THEY FACE THOSE CHALLENGES, SO THEY DO NOT GIVE UP. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM FOR EVERY CHILD AND WOULD FEEL LUCKY TO HAVE ANY OF MY FUTURE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN IT."
