- THE PARKLAND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION ASSISTS IN CONTRACT BARGAINING AND ENFORCEMENT WITHIN THE PARKLAND AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE ORGANIZATION NEGOTIATES WITH THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT REGARDING THE TERMS OF EACH MEMBER'S CONTRACT THROUGH MEMBERSHIP CONTACT AND MEETINGS. - THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES REPRESENTATION OF MEMBERS IN GRIEVANCE HEARINGS. THE PARKLAND AREA EDUCATION ASSOCIATION REPRESENTS ITS MEMBERS WHEN ANY GRIEVANCE HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST ANY ONE OF ITS MEMBERS REGARDING HIS OR HER PERFORMANCE OR CONDUCT AS A TEACHER WITHIN THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT. - THE PARKLAND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION ALSO PARTICIPATES IN THE NATIONAL AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK PROGRAM. THE ORGANIZATION DEDICATES ONE WEEK TO SPOTLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF PROVIDING EVERY CHILD IN AMERICA WITH QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH COLLEGE, AND THE NEED FOR EVERYONE TO DO HIS OR HER PART IN MAKING PUBLIC SCHOOLS GREAT. SUCH ACTIVITIES DURING THIS WEEK INCLUDE AN OPEN HOUSE IN THE SCHOOL, THE OPPORTUNITY FOR PARENTS TO HAVE A HANDS ON EXPERIENCE OF THEIR CHILDREN'S DAILY ROUTINE, THE INVITATION OF COMMUNITY LEADERS TO SERVE AS EDUCATORS FOR A DAY, AND THE RECOGNITION OF EDUCATION SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS AND SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS FOR THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDE. THESE ACTIVITIES IMPROVE THE ATTITUDES TOWARD THE PROFESSION OF TEACHING AND ENCOURAGE SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY.- COMMUNITY PROGRAMS ARE ALSO AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT IN THE EXEMPT PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION. THE PARKLAND EDUCATION ASSOCIATION HOSTS SEVERAL PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHICH INCLUDE CYBER SAFETY AND PSAT TESTING.
