PROGRAMMING AND CLASSES-AFL OPERATES A SINGULAR PERFORMANCE SPACE, THE THEATER AT THE FORT, LOCATED AT HISTORIC FT BENJAMIN HARRISON. AS STEWARD OF THE THEATER AT THE FORT, AFL MAINTAINS A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMMING SCHEDULES FEATURING HUNDREDS OF EVENTS, PERFORMANCES AND EXHIBITIONS IN THE CITY OF LAWRENCE. PROGRAMMING INCLUDES FRIDAY AT THE FORT AND PUBLIC ART DISPLAYS.


THE SUMMER ART CAMP PROVIDES CHILDREN AGE 6-12 WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS ACTIVITIES. OVER 4 WEEKS PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING ARTISTS GUIDE THE CHILDREN IN DEVELOPING VARIOUS SKILLS CULMINATING IN PERFORMANCES AT THE END OF EACH WEEK. TO ENSURE THE CAMP IS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL AFL AIMS TO PROVIDE 50-100 NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIPS EACH YEAR ALLOWING CHILDREN FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS TO PARTICIPATE.


JUNETEENTH JUBILEE IS A FREE FESTIVAL CELEBRATING FAMILY HISTORY AND COMMUNITY. THIS VIBRANT EVENT FEATURES CULTURAL DANCE, MUSIC, FOOD YOUTH ACTIVITIES, HEALTH SCREENINGS, COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND OTHER ACTIVITIES. IT IS A KEY CELEBRATION THAT HONORS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF JUNETEENTH, FOSTERING COMMUNITY CONNECTION AND CULTURAL PRIDE. THE SUCCESS OF THIS EVENT IS MADE POSSIBLE BY OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS.
