THE MISSION OF THE PACIFIC YOUTH CHOIR IS TO INSTILL A LIFE-LONG LOVE OF MUSIC IN YOUNG PEOPLE. DUE TO COVID-19, IN PERSON REHEARSALS WENT ON HIATUS IN MARCH OF 2020 AND PYC STARTED ONLINE ZOOM SESSIONS TO KEEP SINGERS ENGAGED. PYC PARED DOWN IT'S BUDGET THE FOLLOWING YEAR IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN OPERATIONS WHILE CONTINUING TO WORK ON ZOOM WITH PYC SINGERS. CONDUCTORS LEAD SINGERS IN VOCAL WARM UPS, WORKED ON NEW PIECES, HOSTED SPECIAL GUESTS FOR INTERVIEWS, WHILE SINGERS SANG AT HOME. TOWARDS THE END OF EACH SESSION SINGERS WERE INVITED TO VIDEO TAPE THEMSELVES SINGING THE NEW PIECES AT HOME. PIECES WERE THEN UPLOADED AND COMPILED TO PRODUCE "VIRTUAL CHORAL COMPOSITIONS" WHICH WERE SHARED WITH FAMILIES FAR AND WIDE.
