(ALTAMONT PROGRAM) WHICH OPERATES IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN NEW YORK STATE, WAS FORMED TO DEVELOP, COORDINATE, AND OPERATE EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PROGRAMS FOR PERSONS AFFLICTED WITH THE ILLNESS OF ALCOHOLISM AND ALCHOHOL ABUSE. THE EMPHASIS OF THE PROGRAM IS ON GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT IN THE CULINARY ARTS, HOTEL MANAGEMENT, AND THE BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES.

THE INDUSTRIES PROGRAM PROVIDES THE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE DURING THEIR VOCATIONAL TRAINING.
THE TRANSITIONAL LIVING PROGRAM PROVIDES HOUSING AND SHELTER TO VERY LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS.
THE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES CONTRANCT IS BASED ON THE SCHULYER INN SHELTER ALLOWING THEM INTO BETTER ASSIST FAMILIES ON TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE BY PROVIDING DIRECT ACCESS TO THEIR PROGRAM.
THE ORGANIZAION HAS CONTRACTED WITH THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND THE ALBANY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO PROVIDE ON-THE-JOB TRAINING TO ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE PROVIDED TRAINING IN THE CULINARY ARTS, HOUSEKEEPING, AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE INDUSTRIES PROGRAM. FROM TIME TO TIME, THE ORGANIZATION INITIATES NEW PROGRAMS ON A TRIAL BASIS, WHICH, IF SUCCESSFUL, ARE DEVELOPED INTO FULLY OPERATIONAL PROGRAMS.
