DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH. ATI PROVIDES INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY AND/OR SYSTEMS ADVOCACY TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. SERVICES INCLUDE TEACHING DAILY LIVING SKILLS AND TRAINING IN ANY ASPECT OF MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY ASSISTS CONSUMERS IN PROTECTING AND PROMOTING THEIR RIGHTS, RESOLVING COMPLAINTS AND GRIEVANCES AND ACCESSING SERVICES AND SUPPORT OF THEIR CHOICE. SYSTEMS ADVOCACY REPRESENT THE CONCERNS OF A CLASS OF CONSUMERS BY IDENTIFYING PATTERNS OF PROBLEMS ON A SYSTEMATIC, RATHER THAN AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS.
ALL OTHER PROGRAMS: IN COLLABORATION WITH INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES ACTION TOWARD INDEPENDENCE WILL PROMOTE THE INDEPENDENCE, INCLUSION, PARTICIPATION, AND PERSONAL CHOICE OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES OF ALL AGES IN ALL ENVIRONMENTS. ATI ADVANCES THE INDEPENDENT LIVING PHILOSOPHY AND WE ACHIEVE THESE GOALS THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AND ENHANCEMENT OF CULTURALLY SENSITIVE AND RESPONSIVE SERVICES AND SUPPORTS, TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION, AND ADVOCACY FOR THE LEGAL AND CIVIL RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES.
ADULT CAREER AND CONTINUING EDUCATION SERVICES-VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION (ACCES-VR) IS FUNDED THROUGH NYS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. SERVICES PROVIDED INCLUDE ADVOCACY FOR SYSTEMS CHANGE IN THE CATEGORIES OF EDUCATION, EMPLOYMENT, HEALTH CARE, COMMERCE SOCIAL AND CITIZENSHIP. INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO PEOPLE WITH AND WITHOUT DISABILITIES IN APPROVED CIL STANDARDS.
ACL IS PART OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES.
