THE ASSOCIATION'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE LEADERSHIP ON RURAL HEALTH ISSUES THROUGH ADVOCACY, COMMUNICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND RESEARCH.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS, THE NATIONAL RURAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION (NRHA) HAS BEEN SERVING RURAL COMMUNITIES BY ADVANCING AND PUBLICIZING RURAL HEALTH ISSUES AND SEEKING TO SOLVE RURAL HEALTH CARE CHALLENGES. NRHA PROGRAMS SERVE RURAL COMMUNITIES BY PROVIDING RELEVANT AND TIMELY INFORMATION AND BEST PRACTICES TO ALL PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH OF RURAL AMERICA THROUGH: WORKSHOPS, CONFERENCES, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND OTHER OUTREACH EFFORTS. EACH YEAR THE NRHA HOLDS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS AND INTERESTED PARTIES TO COME TOGETHER. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, THE 2021 CONFERENCE WAS VIRTUAL WITH 1,082 ATTENDEES.
DURING 2021 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CDC, NRHA ESTABLISHED THE RURAL VACCINE CONFIDENCE INITIATIVE, A COVID VACCINE COMMUNICATION AND EDUCATION CAMPAIGN. NRHA LED ADVOCACY EFFORTS TO SECURE 10 BILLION IN COVID RELIEF FUNDING FOR RURAL PROVIDER EFFORTS INCLUDING THE RURAL HEALTH CARE HEROES SUSTAINABILITY FUND, EMERGENCY GRANTS FOR RURAL HEALTH CARE, AND COVID-19 RURAL RESPONSE. NRHA ALSO LED ADVOCACY EFFORTS IN THE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT WITH 65 BILLION FOR BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY BUILDOUT AND SIGNIFICANT INTENT FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES. GRANTS WERE PROVIDED TO STRENGTHEN STATE RURAL HEALTH ASSOCIATIONS AND CONTINUE ACCESS TO TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE.
