Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, VOX SUSPENDED ITS IN-PERSON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS DURING THE 2020-2021 TAX YEAR, AND INSTEAD OFFERED DIGITAL CONTENT. VOX CREATED AN AMBITIOUS FILM CALLED "SHOUT THE REVOLUTION!", A 50-MINUTE FILM THAT FEATURES A NEW COMMISSION FROM ANDREA RAMSEY ENTITLED "SUFFRAGE CANTATA," IN HONOR OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF WOMENS SUFFRAGE. THE FILM INCLUDES LIVE FOOTAGE, ARCHIVAL PHOTOS OF THE SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT, AND DETAILED HISTORICAL NARRATION. THE FILM WAS MADE AVAILABLE FREE OF CHARGE TO VOXS PREEXISTING SCHOOL PARTNERS (38 MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS, REPRESENTING OVER 1400 STUDENTS), AS WELL AS AN ADDITIONAL 71 SCHOOLS (APPROXIMATELY 2130 STUDENTS) THAT ARE MEMBERS OF THE SOCAL VOCAL ASSOCIATION. SCHOOLS WERE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN A LIVE Q&A VIA ZOOM WITH VOXS ASSISTANT CONDUCTOR AND WERE PROVIDED WITH A DETAILED STUDY GUIDE. VOX ORDINARILY PERFORMS THREE SUBSCRIPTION CONCERTS EACH SEASON (ONE AT THE FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH OF LOS ANGELES, AND TWO AT THE COLBURN SCHOOL'S ZIPPER CONCERT HALL). IN LIEU OF AN IN-PERSON CONCERT IN NOVEMBER, VOX PRESENTED THE ABOVE MENTIONED DIGITAL FILM, "SHOUT THE REVOLUTION'' AS A TICKETED ONLINE EVENT, REACHING A MUCH LARGER AUDIENCE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD. VOX PRESENTED ANOTHER ONLINE CONCERT, "I DREAM A WORLD," IN APRIL 2021, WITH SIMILAR SUCCESS. IN JUNE OF 2021, VOX PRESENTED A "DIGITAL CABARET" WHICH SHOWCASED INDIVIDUAL VOX MEMBERS SINGING SOLOS AND DUETS. VOX ORDINARILY PRODUCES THREE FREE COMMUNITY CONCERTS PER YEAR IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GRANTING AGENCIES FROM THE CITY OF CULVER CITY, THE CITY OF WEST HOLLYWOOD AND THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES. DURING THE TAX YEAR, ALL THREE OF THESE PERFORMANCES WERE CANCELED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. INSTEAD, VOX SHARED DIGITAL CONTENT WITH THE CONGREGATIONS OF THE CHURCHES AND SYNAGOGUE WHERE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFORMED (CULVER CITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, PICO UNION PROJECT, AND CONGREGATION KOL AMI). VOX ALSO FREQUENTLY PERFORMS AT COMMUNITY EVENTS THROUGHOUT LOS ANGELES, AND DURING THE PANDEMIC PROVIDED ITS DIGITAL CONTENT TO SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS FOR USE IN THEIR ONLINE FUNDRAISERS AND EVENTS.
