SCOPE CONTACTED MORE THAN 30,000 SOUTH LA RESIDENTS THROUGH CIVIC ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS ABOUT KEY ISSUES ON CLIMATE JUSTICE, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY, HEALTH EQUITY AND PUBLIC INVESTMENT THAT IMPACTING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SOUTH LOS ANGELES RESIDENTS. RESIDENTS REACHED THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDED MORE THAN 10,000 HOUSEHOLDS TO EDUCATE AND ENCOURAGE TESTIMONIES AT THE LA COUNCIL DISTRICT HEARINGS. WE FOLLOWED UP WITH MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND SUPPORTIVE LEADS AND RECRUITED 70 NEW MEMBERS PROVIDING LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR GRASSROOTS LEADERS & RESIDENTS TO INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY TO TAKE AN ACTIVE ROLE IN SHAPING COMMUNITY-BASED SOLUTIONS. SCOPE PROVIDED COMMUNITY POLICY EDUCATION, WELLNESS PROGRAMS, AND GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION ACTIONS WITH MORE THAN 500 PARTICIPANTS. MORE THAN 250 FAMILIES RECEIVED AID THROUGH OUR COVID-RELATED ASSISTANCE SUCH AS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, FOOD DISTRIBUTION, CARE PACKAGES, AND FREE COVID TESTS. WITH COALITION PARTNERS, SUCCESSFULLY ADVOCATED FOR POLICIES SUCH AS THE LA COUNTY MOTION TO PHASE OUT OIL AND GAS DRILLING, AND CALIFORNIAS $2B COVID-RELATED UTILITY DEBT RELIEF PROGRAM, AND THE WATER AND POWER SUIT-OFF MORATORIUM THROUGH MARCH OF 2022, THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY MOBILIZATION OFFICE.
