ALASKA MARICULTURE INITIATIVE - PHASE II. THE VISION OF THE AMI IS TO GROW A 1 BILLION INDUSTRY IN 30 YEARS. A FULLY DEVELOPED MARICULTURE INDUSTRY IN ALASKA WOULD PROVIDE NUMEROUS BENEFITS: ECONOMIC, ENVIRONMENTAL, COMMUNITY , INDUSTRY FOOD SECURITY, AND SUSTAINABILITY BENEFITS. AFDF IS CURRENTLY WORKING WITH A GROUP OF STAKEHOLDERS ON THE MARICULTURE TASK FORCE TO CRAFT A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO DEVELOP THE MARICULTURE INDUSTRY IN ALASKA.
MSC AND RFM CERTIFICATION OF ALASKA COD: AFDF IS THE CLIENT FOR THE RFM CERTIFICATION OF THE ALASKA COD FISHERIES. THE ALASKA RFM PROGRAM IS OWNED BY THE ALASKA SEAFOOD MARKETING INSTITUTE (ASMI). THE RFM CERTIFICATION OF SUSTAINABILITY ALLOWS ACCESS AND CHOICE TO VARIOUS MARKETS FOR SELLING PRODUCTS FROM THESE FISHERIES.
