THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS A DAY PROGRAM AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO ENGAGE IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SERVICE-ORIENTED INVOLVEMENTS, TO LEARN VALUABLE LIFE SKILLS, AND TO EXPERIENCE A POSITIVE ALTERNATIVE TO THE SERVICES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.

MARTHAS PLACE AND SELAH WEST ARE OREGON'S FIRST BED AND BREAKFASTS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THEY ARE RESPITE CARE HOMES THAT PROVIDE AFFORDABLE OVERNIGHT CARE FOR UP TO FIVE INDIVIDUALS EACH AT ONE TIME. BOTH ARE MEDICAID CERTIFIED TO PROVIDE SERVICES THROUGH THE STATE OF OREGON AND HAVE DELIVERED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF RESPITE CARE SINCE THEIR OPENING IN 2002.
DISCOVERY DAY PROGRAM PROVIDES UPLIFTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO BECOME ENGAGED IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SERVICE-ORIENTED INVOLVEMENT, WHILE HAVING ENCOURAGING PEER INTERACTIONS AND ADDING POSITIVE VARIETY TO DAILY ROUTINES.
THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTS CHURCHES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO REACH OUT TO PEOPLE WITH MENTAL AND/OR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, AS WELL AS TO THEIR FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS. THE ORGANIZATION TRAINS VOLUNTEERS TO LEAD THE TREASURE NIGHTS, AND THEN IT MONITORS THE PROGRAMS TO ENSURE THEIR SUCCESS AND EFFICIENCY. THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS TREASURE NIGHT IS A DESIGNATED DAY OF THE MONTH FOR EACH PARTICIPATING CHURCH WHEN VOLUNTEERS AND TREASURES (AN INDIVIDUAL WITH A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY SUCH AS DOWN SYNDROME, CEREBRAL PALSY, AUTISM, ETC). TREASURES GET TOGETHER TO SING SONGS, PLAY GAMES, STUDY A BIBLE LESSON, PRAY, MAKE CRAFTS, AND EAT YUMMY TREATS. IT IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR TREASURES TO INTERACT WITH OTHERS WITH SIMILAR DISABILITIES WHILE BUILDING GREAT FRIENDSHIPS.
