THE PURPOSE AND MISSION OF WILLOW RIDGE THERAPEUTIC RIDING FACILITY IS TO PROVIDE ASSISTED THERAPY FOR HIGHER FUNCTIONING CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. THERAPEUTIC RIDING NOT ONLY AIDS IN MUSCLE DEVELOPMENT, BALANCE, AND EYE-HAND COORDINATION, BUT ALSO PROVIDES EMOTIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL THERAPY. OUR GOAL IS TO TEACH SKILLS THAT BOLSTER SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SELF-DISCIPLINE IN A RECREATIONAL SETTING THAT ALSO TEACHES CARE AND RESPECT FOR ANIMALS. THE EDUCATION OF THE CHILDREN AND THE POSITIVE EFFECTS ON THEIR SELF-IMAGE WILL MAKE THEM LESS LIKELY TO BECOME VICTIMS OF CRUELTY AND THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH HORSES WILL MAKE THEM A POSITIVE FORCE FOR PREVENTIONS OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
